Decided to use loops as much as possible.
Haven't tried them before.
Interested in your comments.
Actually had a few more tracks but they seemed superfluous so got the chop.

Edit - Posted fuller version also after reading Floyd's comments.
Cheers.

Richard,

An excellent write. Many good, well thought out lines. Good enough to make one think... a cool thing. One of your best.

Nice use of loops. They suit your song (and your "style") really well. I would have liked to hear a few other sounds added (in then out) along the way for some variation. An arpeggiated snyth maybe (just here and there). Not to take away from what you've done, though... because this is well done...

Enjoyed.

This song has a really nice beat to it. I found myself tapping along at my desk. I also really enjoyed the lyrics. Overall I think this is a pretty great song with an awesome sound that you should be proud of.

That's actually a cool song. I could hear that being used in a kids TV educational program.... kinda like Sesame Street... or similar. It has just enough novelty twist to be that kind of song.

Good stuff here.

Rich,
Very good lyrics covering pretty much the entire creation with ease!
Herb makes a good point there about the educational potential of this song... would make a cool video.
I enjoyed the bouncy synth bass backing too.

Always a pleasure to read your thoughtful comments.
Put up the fuller version.
Maybe somewhere in between would be ideal.

Thanks Ember.

Lovely comments.
Actually. I am quite pleased with it.

Thank you Herb.

I value your comments.
I think you are right about the song.
Come to think of it a lot of my pieces could be suitable as children's songs.
Well some of them.
Maybe that's my slot.

I listened to both versions, I agree, the second is better.

Nice groove happening, and good lyrics! And yeah, as Robert said, this would make an awesome video!

Cool! You're braking new ground with this tune. BiaB is a fabulous tool to bring a song into a complete new direction and develop new ideas.
I'd like to hear a B3 organ in the arrangement.

Keep on chasing this song!

Dear "RichMac"...

This is something truly special, sir, your "Welcome to the Family" song. First of all, I can't remember the last time I heard anyone singing about their family roots, and in such a celebratory way as you do. Secondly, you sing like you really enjoy singing! If you have children and grandchildren, I'd be willing to bet that you sang your heart out to them as they grew up, and that they enjoyed every fun-filled minute of it.

Even the title, "Welcome to the Family", is a spirit-lifter. Well done, "RichMac", and thank you for introducing us to your ancestors!

Smiling with you,

LOREN

Hi Dave,

Thanks for listening to both versions and comparing them.
I would find a suitable video a challenge but it would be great fun.
May try it later.

Hi Rich,

We listened to both versions.
We agree with Floyd and we think the revisited version is slightly better, a bit more melodic.
Good lyrics and anyway a good song.

Now that's pretty cool. I can see all kinds of images for a kid's video...or for those "eternal child" adults that I so admire (like my wife Janice).

Relatively few tracks as I always like but obviously a lot of thought went into them.

Nice creative fun happening here.

This is great. A genealogy trip set to song, excellent.

Everything about this is top shelf.

Two thumbs up!

PS - I loved the lyrics!

Thank you Einar.

I agree with what you write.
The organ would be good.
I always liked the backgrounds used in rap and wondered how they would go with a few more chords and some melody.
Maybe make up backing in Soundation and add some real tracks.
Will try one of these days.

Cheers.

Hi Loren.

Glad you enjoyed the song.
I am an old kid and hope the song appeals to the child in all of us.
And yes I do enjoy the children and get along quite well with them! (to my surprise).

This is a really nice funky song with wonderful lyrics. Good selection of loops and the addition of that funk wah guitar is a very welcomed choice. The song reminds me of Brit artists like Karel Fialka and Right Said Fred.

Hello, Richard

What a wonderful combination of RealTracks!
House techno Trance mecha bass is dumbly and funny but it is very interesting.
Great ides! Very cool!
Really lovely song!
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Really interesting song RichMac!! I love the theme of connectedness in it! Pete Townshend wrote a song called Drowned for Quadrophenia in which he traces the ecological path of water, relating it to human spirituality (and possibly reincarnation). You've captured the same vibe in a really cool way!! Take care. Greg
