I think it's time that PG music include a sample libray in Band in a Box. Woth all the time PG Music has recording the musicians for the Real Tracks, they could also have the musicians record samples . Here are my reason for having a PG Music sample libray:

1. The best sounding libray- Because PG Music only records musician of the highest caliber for the RTs, you would have the best sounded instruments. You would also have the best articulations, techniques, and minute details that make the instrument come to life.

2. The felixablity of samples- With the RTs, all you get are pre recorded parts that can adapt to the tempo and key signature and unless you want input a bunch a .wav files and slice and dice them untill you get a part you like, there is not much editing you can do with them. However, if with a sample libray you have control over the whole thing. You choose what notes to play, how long they played, how the play, the tempo etc. Samples allow film composers, orchestras, band leaders and artist to write out the parts that want for verbatim.

VST- We've talk about want BIAB to be a plugin for most DAWs and this is it. Why not have PG Music and Native Instrument collaborate to make a sample librarty that can integrated into Kontak 5.

BIAB MIDI Edition- For those who want BIAB only for MIDI I think they sould get the sample library included with a special bundle that comes on a hard drive without the need to install any of it.

So those are my though and the idea. How will be possible, I don't know. How much would it cost? I think $300 including the hard drive sounds fai.

It will cost too much to get the artist to record all the note samples, the PG staff can do it the same way they record the shots n holds and the PG SFZ Library.
You can do all this with the free Sforzando rather than everyone having to buy Kontakt.
Some of the Instruments in the Sforzando PG Music Library are the same instruments as some of the real instruments they just need to add the rest with keyswitch articulations like these:
Free FS Fender Jaguar Both Pickups DI Sforzando
Free FS Fender Telecaster Both Pickups DI Sforzando
Free FS Seagull Acoustic Sforzando
Free FS Ibanez Acoustic Sforzando
Free FS Gibson Les Paul Both Pickups DI Sforzando
FS Yamaha Electric Bass Direct In
FS Washburn Acoustic Bass Direct In

Here's one you can use Free Archtop Guitar for RealTrack Jazz Electric Guitar (27) and Free Mini Sax for RealTrack Soprano Sax (65) Win/Mac

Sforzando sucks. No one supports it nor makes any sample libraies for it. We could have PG Music create the host as well as the samples and I would pay for all the samples. I think it would be worth the time and money since we all love Band in a Box, Real Band, and Power Tracks.

Hi Islansoul,

The Hi-Q sounds we already provide are a sample library, and are in SFZ format, which is fairly common and compatible with lots of samplers (including Kontakt).

Sforzando's just the sample player we happen to supply, and is integrated with Band-in-a-Box to a certain extent, but there's nothing stopping you from loading our SFZ files into another sampler of your choice, or loading other SFZ libraries into Sforzando.

Thanks
Kent

I give this idea a -1. I think that PGMusic should spend its time and money improving BiaB and RB. There are a ton of VSTi sound sources out there now, ranging from free (SFZ, SF2, plus some VSTis like Kontakt free and Sampletank 3 free), to thousands of dollars. If one wants better MIDI sounds either get the free Kontakt, free Sampletank 3 or pay for better sounds. This is just my opinion and yours may differ.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Sforzando may suck compared to Kontakt, but it's free and still works good.
I made all those SFZ instruments above with articulation keyswitches for Sforzando as you like so many other users didn't have Kontakt at the time, I remember telling you years ago to buy it when they have the black friday half price sale, but you only just purchased it recently.
So now you have it you can create your own PG instruments with Kontakt, sampled from the RealTrack instruments and their holds, just use the above Sforzando guide.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
