Hello all
First time poster, but many year user and follower of the forum. As a recreational musician I focus mostly on Gypsy Jazz so actually only use the few dozen or so realtracks available for that genre, as backing tracks. I usually input the melody, on the Melody track, for learning and sight reading practice Have had a few minor glitches with the program, over the years, (mostly 2018) but those that have occurred, have usually been covered by the excellent technical advice on this forum. Hoping someone has a simple solution to this, as I have run out of options.
Don’t know what happened but BIAB2018 (512) froze and had to be closed using Task Manager. Since then I no longer have any midi sound on the melody track. All other tracks act as they should (both Real and Midi). This applies to all songs.
Checked the usual (Bar Settings, F5-mute, mixer-frozen track, MME installed)
Went through the sub menus on the Mixer, Melody Track.
Checked Preferences, Notation, Midi file, driver, options, Realtracks.
Nothing obvious (to me)
Reset to factory settings, re installed BIAB2018 (512)
Opened a new file and entered a notation melody line-after each note was entered there was about a 3 second delay before the note entry (midi) sound was heard. However, after saving and playing,no midi sound heard on the Melody Track.
I suspect I have been trying to sort this for far too long and now and have totally lost perspective!

Hi Laurence, Welcome to posting on the forums. As a starting place, go to the link below and set up your midi and audio as I describe. http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=461558#Post461558As Kent points out in the thread, this will not be the best setup for recording. It is, however, the most fundamental setup to make sure that all is working and I've found it the best starting place to solve problems. Also, when you created the 'New' file, did you begin by using "File | New"? Regards, Noel

Thanks for the detailed fix. I guess after the crash, and a few access violations, I cocked things up even more by flailing around with the Midi thingies, about which I know little.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
