Things I Should've Said

A blues rock song (with apologies to EC).

Lyrics & Vocals Leon
I sang and played all the guitars.

The rest of the Band:
RealTracks in style: ~1546:Bass, Electric, CountrySwing Sw 085
RealTracks in style: ~673:Organ, B3, Background Blues BB Ev 085
RealDrums in style: BluesRockShuffle^1-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Snare, Open HiHat

Things I Should’ve Said

I’m a hundred clicks from anywhere
And the needle’s in the red
All the things I should’ve said
Are running through my head
All the broken promises
All the stupid lies I told
The good will that I squandered
And the precious things I sold

I find it liberating
To have nothing to lose
The things that I’ve been chasing
Only led me to the blues

Told myself I didn’t care
When you said we were diverging
The feelings that I didn’t share
Are only now emerging
The way you made me feel as though
My soul had found a twin
The crazy rush of pleasure
When your hair brushed on my skin

I find it liberating
To have nothing to lose
This mess that I’ve created
That’s not the future that I choose

There’s a storm on the horizon
Lighting up the clouds
How could you know the way I felt
Never spoke the words aloud
Some fools never realise
The treasures that they’ve lost
Some fools just keep rolling on
And never count the cost

I find it liberating
To have so much to lose
This mess that I’ve created
Is not the future that I choose

Yes, I find it liberating
To have so much to lose
This mess that I’ve created
Only led me to the blues

Very nice, Peter!

Love that lick you came up with, very cool. Good vocals and write from Leon.

Great job on the leads as always, and fun hearing that little EC quote in there too!

Good way to start off my day while drinking my first cup of coffee, enjoyed the listen.

Peter/Leon,

A good Blues write - a solid lyric. Well sung.

Excellent guitar work! (all the parts!). The organ works well, too. Nice mix.

The little "guitar flurry" at 2:17 is exquisite!

Y'all keep getting better and better - super music.

Enjoyed

Great work on this one, Peter! I love how much charisma and attitude there is to this tune. That groove is infectious, and your vocal delivery is spot on. Some very cool lyrics here too, which I found really helped keep my attention throughout.

Very well done - thanks for sharing smile

Good guitar lick to base the song around. The lyrics are especially good. It is quite challenge to write a modern blues song with interesting lyrics. Well sung ,played and arranged, Tom

Hi Peter,

A great rolling blues with an inspired title - how many times have we all thought that?

Super backing track - loved the B3 and some excellent guitar work in there.
Spotted the EC phrase - neat!

Great blues vocal from Leon.

Cheers, ROG.

Thanks Dave - I was probably inspired by your Jeff Beck "quote".

I love the blues and you did an outstanding job on this. Super vocals, great backing tracks, strong lyrics and some outstanding guitar chops all in one perfect mix.

This is a keeper.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

No need to apologize to EC - he’d likely smile.

This is definitely many cuts above the typical blues write. More literate but not too much so - just enough to keep the listener engaged with the cool lyric while your guitar certainly doesn’t let anybody wander when it takes over.

Fine vocal and guitar performances you two.

And kudos to Blues Man Leon!

Cool song, great backing. The vocal stands a little apart from it though. Are they the same reverb?
I like how the organ sounds really solid and live. How did you treat it?
Cool stuff gents.

Cheers

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
