Can`t Get Lost

A song about a house I lived in with some international characters back in hippie days.

Style is _STJOHNS.STY (St Johns Songwriter Acoustic)

RealTracks in style: ~2478:Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 110
RealTracks in style: 1275:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopUpliftHeld Ev16 120
RealTracks in style: 2934:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm FolkySync8thsFintan Ev 140
RealTracks in song: 2364:Synth, ElectroFlutes, Rhythm Pop Ev 085
RealDrums in style: CongasEv8[single] [Multi]
Midi Supertrack Koto synth ( Tamboura patch from Aria)

Can`t Get Lost

floor is tilting
roof is rising
windows are watching

Han bake bread from fiddleheads
and sanskrit mantra
suspect Brits welcome you to the Ritz
drinking Abracadabra
a girl so fair slides down the stairs
your feet are losing ground
there`s no guest book up in my nook
write something profound

you can`t get lost can`t get lost
if you come from nowhere
in her loft tumbling so soft
waterfall hair

Steve moves to the chicken coop
wires it for sound
we get out of bed to cash a check
the sky`s upside down
gentle Jane changes her name
to New Child Arising
don`t be surprised in the house with eyes
leap before looking

you can`t get lost can`t get lost
if you come from nowhere
in her loft tumbling so soft
waterfall hair

floor is tilting
roof is rising
windows are watching

Holey crap Robert we lived in the same house! You described my old pad to a tee!

I really like this song. Good mix with a strong vocal and a very interesting backing track.

Excellent song!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Robert,

This is excellent! I love the production on this - so many layers and all working together so effectively.

Great smooth vocal as well.

Enjoyed!

Very well done, Robert smile This tune is definitely giving me a 70's vibe. I really enjoyed how cinematic and visual the lyrics are. I can almost envision what that house must've have been like. Also - the arrangement and production job is top notch.

Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Deryk

The lyrics painted such a specific picture. I can't imagine what it would be like to be alive during the 60s and the 70s, but that song really helped to create a very vivid picture for me.

Thanks for sharing.

Mario,
Could be - if you made it to Vancouver and found yourself in questionable company in the early 70`s! This was just one of a community of such funky houses... all repaced with mansions now.
Glad this took you back.

Bob,
I was trying for an acoustic, Incredible String Band kind of sound.

Robert,

A SUPERB listen!

Love the write. So expressive! Cool instrumentation.

Your vocal enhances this even further.

This is very original sounding. Somewhere between folk and psychedelic rock - unlike anything I've ever heard.

Really enjoyed this. One of your best.

This reminds me of something the Moody Blues might have done. Really trippy. Great poetic lyrics and really puts the listener in the communal house. Fantastic backing track with very unique chord changes. What a great listen and unlike anything ever posted here. I quite enjoyed it, Tom

Hello, Robert

ElectroFlutes is very effective.
It has become a wonderful seasoning for folk style melodies.
I always admire because you creates a magical sound every time.
Your vocal is very comfortable as usual.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks very much, Dave - I had lots of material for this and had to cut out a few characters! Those were the days.

I think those electroflutes are forever tagged with Strawberry Fields. Thanks for your listen and thumbs up!

One regret about that place and other travels at that time- I thought cameras weren`t cool, so this is about the only picture I have.
Thanks for listening.

Wow! That was retro, without sounding derivative. Nice write.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Floyd,
Thanks for those very kind impressions. Is it folk? Guess I`m not sure either - I had a sound in mind and filtered through BiaB it came out bit different ( would have liked to find a sitar to place more forward in the mix).

Peter,
Remember Incredible String Band`s "Painting Box"? I started with that song as a guide.
Glad you enjoyed this.
