Are there any helpful, comprehensive tutorials or courses (free or paid) about creating a "good" song with BiaB? (or, more specifically, leading someone on that path)
I know there's no "Holy Grail" of churning out great song after great song, but I would appreciate...something like a songwriting course employing BiaB as a main tool. It's unlikely that there's anything out there that fits that description, but perhaps that gives a good idea of what I'm looking for.
I'm familiar with basic music theory. I played violin for a few years and attempted to learn guitar and keyboard several times, as well as studying basic music theory to a decent extent.
I'm by no means much of a musician, only a very interested hobbyist. My passion for the last ten years has been learning to sing and I'd like to try my hand at writing some original songs.
I've scoured the forum for suggestions. I found links to the Berklee College of Music free courses (I'm signing up for music production) and Groove3 (haven't explored options there yet).
I'm sure that many of you are already music "experts" to varying degrees already and can experiment with BiaB to find what they are looking for, but surely there are many of us without that kind of musical knowledge who would benefit greatly from this type of course I have in mind.
Surely those that have worked with BiaB for a while have developed systems they use to create their songs.
ThanX for the links...I've been going through the videos, but they are mostly just the technical side of BiaB.
I didn't know about the 'How To' tutorials; those will help, but they are again mostly technical. I did like the one on how to add an interesting bassline using the soloist, and this is more of what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for something more on the creative side, though, showing the process of creating a somewhat complex song from beginning to end, including how to refine that song from a creative viewpoint. I know that a writer's creativity can't really be taught, but hearing their process along the way would be a great framework to experiment with my own creativity.
I suggest you review some of the topics in the Songwriting Forum and look for posts by Joanne Cooper and Noel96 as they both have posted many comments regarding the creative side of BB. That's not meant to slight others but both Joanne and Noel have focused a lot of attention on newcomer's questions. Joanne writes a Blog on a regular basis that focus's on BB and RealBand as creative tools and provides tips, techniques and tutorials.
Thank you Charlie. As noted above, I've already found Joanne Cooper on the web. (Actually, when I made that post, it stated that a moderator had to review and approve my account...so it's not yet posted.)
I will search for her and Noel96's posts as you recommend!

Just type in Joanne Cooper and then hit enter or return
Joanne's course looks like it will fill my original requirements; now I just need to learn & re-learn theory and lyric writing. I've tried so many times to write lyrics, but never even came up with an idea that inspired me.
A couple of years ago there used to be Video Tutorial PAKs available from PG Music including "Songwriting with Band-in-a-Box" by Oliver Gannon. These tutorials were quite helpful as a jumpstart to using BiaB for songwriting purposes.
Unfortunately I currently don't see these Tutorial PAKs any longer on the PG Music website.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
