What is with this server thing? When I try to download files on my network the IPad just says you need QuickTime for Windows. What? That isn't even supported by Apple anymore.

Wonder what is wrong.

Thanks.

Michael

PS: Worked on it more tonight. No luck. Files look like they go through be when you try to play them on the IPad it tries to "regenerate" the song, and after some minutes it sends back an error that says that you need "QuickTime" for Windows on your PC. Well, if you have Windows 10 on your PC you are not going to have QuickTime for Windows.

Have pretty much given up.

Thanks.

Michael

Michael,

PG Music gives the following link for BB Remote that might help with further understanding.

http://www.pgmusic.com/support.iphone.bbremote.htm

...and in the pdf manual (found in BIAB under "Help | Program Manuals" on page 423 for BIAB 2018) there's some more information.

Although I've never used BB Remote, hopefully there's something in the above information that will assist.

Noel

Michael,

Hope that the info Noel provided gets you those files off Band in the Box Server.

Just wondering here if that download was searching for the QuickTime Player app version 10.4 ( macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 ) that should be in your applications folder for macOS High Sierra . And it is supported by Apple. I have found that at times you have to manually guide a download to the application it is searching to find in the OperatingSystem .

I am working off a PC and not a Mac, so the QuickTime isn't going to be there right? I am using Windows 10.

BB Remote described in Noel's post does not seem to be the same application as BB for IPhone, IPad, etc.

The latter is a free-standing client that can (allegedly) receive files from your full desktop version and play them. Remote is akin to a remote control, from the description I have seen.

Look at the procedures described on pages 448 and 449 of the manual and you will see what I mean.

Downloading the file from your PC onto the IPad is the part that for me, does not seem to work.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.

Michael

Hi Michael,

I've just found the below link. That might have some useful information. I've randomly tried some links on the webpage and they were related to the iphone.

Hello,

The reason for Quicktime mention is that the song files are generated with the desktop application, and rendered as m4a or mp4 files before they can be downloaded and played by the iOS device. In Band-in-a-Box for Windows, you can prepare the files in the "BB2GO" dialog (Windows menu | BB2Go).

Quicktime is no longer required by Band-in-a-Box version 2018. We now use Microsoft's Media Foundation which is available on newer versions of Windows.

If you have Band-in-a-Box 2017 or earlier, then the Quicktime library is required, specifically 7.6.6 or higher (just the library, in fact the QT player doesn't even need to be installed). Quicktime is a free download on Apple's website.

Thanks for the clarification regarding the OperatingSystem you are using.

I'm not sure whether Im on the right tram here but if you are trying to transfer music files -MP3s to your iPad here's how I do it.
I use an app called Onsong. From my PC I drag my converted BiaB MP3's into a file in Dropbox. Open up the IPad Onsong app and select add tracks which takes you (with other options) to Dropbox where you select the tracks and they are imported and are able to be played within that app. Onsong is a scrolling lyrics/chord app with a huge amount of other features and great for live performances.
Maybe this is not what you are trying to do but just in case.....cheers

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
