Clifton invited me to interpret his Vietnam song so I did. It is only 2 tracks.

https://soundcloud.com/davidsfilmmusic/1969-song

I loved this song when I heard it the first time. Wish we had had this for that SongTradr Vietnam War listing man.

Well, maybe next time.

1969

By Clifton and David

Performed by David Dylan

V1

We fought the Nam for Nixon, Kept the pain inside
watched the hippies spit at us, when we got stateside
They sent the body bags home like a dog was inside
and everything changed in '69
Everything changed in 1969

V2

Protesters burned draft cards in a great big pile
Radical students ran to college and hid out for a while
The weathermen exploded, the devil showed up right on time
Everything changed in '69
Everything changed in 1969

CH:

And I don't remember
who was left alive
and I don't remember
what was left inside
and I don't remember if we even survived
but everything changed
in 1969
everything changed in 1969

V3

It was a world that could only happen back then
and I pray to God we will never see it again
We tried to light a bonfire
tried to let it shine
but then then devil
he showed up just in time
and everything changed in '69
everything changed in 1969

CH:

And I don't remember
who was left alive
and I don't remember
what was left inside
and I don't remember if we even survived
but everything changed
in 1969
everything changed in 1969

A song by Clifton and David. Performed by David Dylan. More data to come.

David Snyder, acoustic guitar and vocals.

Wow, so good!

First of all, outstanding writing, just about as good as it gets IMHO.

And the performance shows that less is often more, particularly for this type of material. Just a man and his guitar, anything else would get in the way and take away from the song.

Nice one guys!

Rather strange hearing Dylan singing from the other side.

Hey Clifton,

I will set up a drop box some time this weekend and send you the .wav. Am out of pocket all day and most of tomorrow but I will get 'er done somehow.

Yeah, maybe the start of many. I really felt this song man. I basically propped your lyrics up in front of me on the music stand under the mic, plugged in with the acoustic and did it. I played and sang at the same time to get that 60s coffee house vibe going on. It felt good man. Great material. smile

I guess we need to exchange some ASCAP info and stuff over the next few days.

What a tune! I thoroughly enjoyed this one smile The Bob Dylan vibes are strong with this one. I would love to hear the original this was based off. The mix on this is on point too. I think this might be one of my favourites I've heard from you thus far.

Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Clifton, getting ready to send a .wav via drop box. In case you or your peeps wanna play it live here is what I am doing:

I am capo 4 but in D formation so key of F#. Pretend we are in D.

It starts on D (moves slowly) to D/C then to Em7 (walk down to the B, finger stays on D second string but no A, open G) then move finger down to Bb bass with the D holding steady on second string. Repeat.

Chorus is G, A2 with a G on top (G6 add9??) then to D. Repeat.

Have fun.

This song is so true. I lost 7 friends in that war and for what?

This is one fantastic song. Everything is top shelf, great vocal and lyrics!

You should be very proud of this one.

This is a keeper.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

A terrific co-write, boys. Well done. The addition of the chorus gave it a nice structure and pulled it together.

Nice performance, David.

Nice take on this David! Just you and the guitar was enough! That was era-accurate IMO! Thanks, Torrey

Such a cool song David. During the time I only lived about 60 miles from the US border. Had allot of mix emotions over that war. Had a friend slip across the border to join the US Marines. He didn't last long over there and was shipped home in a coffin. Also met a few people who slipped across the border to escape the draft. Very troubling times.

Loved the lyric and way you delivered them. Such a cool song.....

Well done y'all...lots of reminders there for a guy who went to HS and college in the 60's and then drew a "safe" number in the draft lotto for your life.

Great job, Mr. Dylan! As has been said, really fits the era. A lot of truth in this one. Nice collab! Really enjoyed it!

Loved it. Not to minimize the message or the emotion here, but this is a classic period piece in so many good ways. Kudos!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
