Suddenly none of my BIAB files display a song's title in the black box up near the upper left corner of the normal BIAB screen. A possible clue is the STYLE black box seems taller and the title box is somewhat reduced in height. Not sure exactly when this happened, sometime over the last few days. I tried returning to factory settings, no joy. Must be something I'd done but I'm currently perplexed. 2018 version with all latest updates.
Perhaps your screen resolution changed or the graphics card driver updated.
Sometimes I've had luck changing the screen resolution, warm start Windows so the new resolution is set, returning to my preferred resolution, warm start Windows again and all is well.
In the below, I'm assuming that you've tried restarting your computer. Sometimes things seem to get stuck in memory that only a restart can clear. (Logging off doesn't seem to be enough.)
Try this and see if it helps...
1. Under Options, save a copy of your preferences.
2. Close BIAB.
3. Go to the \bb\Preferences folder.
4. Rename INTRFACE.BBW to INTRFACE.OLD and MYSETUP.DK to MYSETUP.OLD
These are BIAB's settings files and doing the above forces BIAB to create new versions of the files.
You'll need to setup your audio and midi drivers again after the above.
You could try loading in the saved preferences to get your drivers back. Hopefully that won't reset the title window's size.
Below is an image of my chordsheet when I'm in BIAB. This is the view that we need to see. (If your BIAB desk looks different from mine, press CTRL+T to change from fullscreen to standard view.)
I've not posted a jpg before and I think I've followed the instructions. File Manager says "Total Files: 1", but I don't see it in the preview. If it doesn't post I'll retry in a bit.
I do appreciate your interest and guidance. In any case I'm guessing my next step might be reinstall BIAB?
I've never seen this issue before. You could try going to Options - Preferences - Display and hitting the Defaults button, but that's a bit of a long shot. Deleting "BBToolBar9.ini" from the BB\Preferences\ is a more thorough way of resetting the toolbar. Not sure if that'll fix this exact issue, but it's worth a shot.
If not, then reinstalling should do the trick, but it might require a fresh install.
If you're running BIAB from the C drive, you could try an installation #2 (which just installs BIAB but not the RealTracks, like Noel recommended), but if that doesn't work, deleting the BB folder and reinstalling again really should do the trick.
If you're running BIAB from a pre-installed USB hard drive, you could try an option 2 reinstall back to that same drive, but if that doesn't work, I'd install to the C drive and run it from there instead.
It's hard to fully reinstall Band-in-a-Box on those USB drives, which is why I always recommend installing BIAB to another drive and running it from there, in case something goes wrong.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried them all and none work. I have this problem on any/all songs I load, even one I created in RB as Noel suggested. Toggling Cntl T back and forth does not clear the issue and I even reloaded/reinstalled the latest update. I'm running the full-up fully updated 2018 audiophile version (BB in C:, Real Drums/Tracks in D:).
Next (probably tomorrow) I'll reinstall and let you know. I'm confident this will fix the problem and I still suspect the root cause somehow is something I've done.
I sincerely appreciate the time, thought and efforts you guys put behind the suggestions.
