I would like to dedicate my new song Kingdom Now to all the magnificent forum song posters who get out there every day, tearing it up, and inspiring me with their great songs that just keep getting better and better.
And also to my good buddy Hear To Learn who keeps relentlessly pushing and prodding me to new and dizzying heights of musical madness.
When midnight came I was dreaming I could fly an angel came from nowhere and took me for a ride we sang all night then she was gone and left me dreaming at the golden gates of dawn
PreChorus
And if you want it I'll show you how It’s a kingdom made of sound And if you missed it I'll break it down This whole world Is sacred ground
CH
And I’m not waiting on the Kingdom I’m not waiting on the Kingdom I’m not waiting on the Kingdom anyhow I’m now waiting on the Kingdom I’m not waiting on the Kingdom Cause I’m living in the Kingdom I'm living in the Kingdom Now
V2
Each passing day Draws us to our destiny Faith is sometimes all we have Sometimes all we need So you be you and I’ll be me just keep believing That we really can be free
PreChorus
And if you want it I will show you how It’s a kingdom made of sound And if you missed it I will break it down This whole world Is sacred ground

Band in a Box and Real Tracks: A lot.
Some from the “Enamor” and “Inspire” styles.
Also, various BIAB midi styles parts from 2001 to 2018 were blended into the mix. It’s a boiling brew. I basically raided the warehouse.
The instruction manual came in handy.

The cymbals are a part of the drum style I used but that is a fairly easy fix when it is time to press this. I will make a note of it. Thanks.
(It would sacrifice some of the turnarounds though which are part of the drive, but I kind of see/hear what you mean now that you point it out. I didn't really notice it before or at least it did not jump out at me.)

Yeah, haha. I think every new one is gonna be the masterpiece. I'm still writing songs. Nothing new to post for a while until I move the studio to the new house we're buying. Busy. Busy.
"When midnight came I was dreaming I could fly an angel came from nowhere and took me for a ride we sang all night then she was gone and left me dreaming at the golden gates of dawn"
That first verse grabbed me and never let go for the ride.
Yeah, man, be here NOW.
Huxley said, "After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music." I read that very recently but being old I can't remember where. Maybe here on the forum. For some reason this tune brought it to mind.
When the song started playing it wasn't at all what I expected! I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting to hear, but the sound that came out of my headphones wasn't it. That being said, that's not a bad thing! I was very surprised in a pleasant way, then I heard ...
"When midnight came I was dreaming I could fly. An angel came from nowhere and took me for a ride. We sang all night then she was gone, and left me dreaming at the golden gates of dawn."
This is really poetic writing and was very beautiful. So thank you very much for this cyrstal clear image! It really set the tone.
David, 'a kingdom made of sound" - love that line and many others. Your energy comes through in the vocal, drums, guitars, and all the other layers going on here. Awe, with a cool beat... welcome back!
David.. Really enjoyed this.. My favorite elements: 2nd time thru the chorus you added those little piano notes, just the right tiny sparkles to highlight the chorus.. Also liked how you brought down the arrangement to start the fadeout, then built it up again as you took it out.. And the overall track (melody, mix, lyric, vocal) all perfectly balanced and complimentary. Thanks for sharing your work!
Continuous 8 beats of bass and elec. guitar throughout this tune are very comfortable. I like this. It is suitable for highway drive. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
"When midnight came I was dreaming I could fly an angel came from nowhere and took me for a ride we sang all night then she was gone and left me dreaming at the golden gates of dawn"
That first verse grabbed me and never let go for the ride.
Yes, that first verse is pure gold. Also loved the "Kingdom made of sound" line.
Songwriting at it's best IMHO, not to mention a brilliant performance.
Wow - what a tune! I absolutely loved the progressions and melodies here. I'm getting a strong Tom Petty vibe here. A very strong, and catchy chorus and some impressive lyrics too. When those synth lines come in for the chorus, it put it over the top for me.
A nice write. Smooth, Interesting. I would quote the same line that Bud and Dave did.... oh...what the heck...
"When midnight came I was dreaming I could fly an angel came from nowhere and took me for a ride we sang all night then she was gone and left me dreaming at the golden gates of dawn"
Nice.
The opening chords lift you up and carry you off - and the song never lets go from there.
Really like this track. Your vocal sits PERFECTLY in the mix. One of your best. There is something about this that reminds me of Springsteen from the Born In The USA era... (his most "commercial" period).
From start to finish, this is an incredibly engaging composition and presentation. You've got it all... memorable lyrics, memorable melody, infectious and toe-tapping rhythm that drives the song with determination, very engaging vocals, and a really well planned arrangement that is full of intent and purpose and showcases everything. Congratulations on a terrific creation.
Like a number of others before me, I also found the lyrics for verse one captivating. When I heard them, my first thought was "This is very inspired writing! Exceptional wordsmithery."
I can certainly hear why you were all over the boards with excitement for this one. Terrific song and track David! Reminded me of the Who but is delightfully David and definitely makes me want to hear it again.
David, This one is among your very best. The vocal sits perfectly and you did a fine job singing. Good write and excellent production. Enjoyed my listen, Tom
Hey, Dave, nice solid write. Vocals really match the mood. I tend to be drawn to songs with a positive, upbeat feel, and this has it in spades in rhythm, melody, and lyrics. Everything aligns.
This intro immediately makes me think of Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen. OK, let's listen further... Mmmh yes, perhaps (and I know this must be flattering) a subtle Michael Sembello influence as well. Let's listen further... Oh yes, a little bit of Flash and the Pan as well. I could go on... but for the sake of this Forum....
NICE!

Well what the heck?! I posted (apparently unsuccessfully) a reply to this the day you posted your song. I kept waiting for a response from you and haven't seen a thing. I thought it was a bit odd you hadn't replied. Then today, I thought I would look back to see exactly when I posted it, and I can't find it! Not "a word" of it!
So...now I'm forced to go and type the entire review and critique I had worked up, line by line AGAIN. Bare with me on this; because I want to make sure I get the wording right. So, I'll have at it...

TEMPO TANTRUM: What a lead singer has when they can't stay in time.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!! I too really hear the Springsteen thing. There is something else I hear in this.....my favorite songwriter Pete Townshend! The energy and drive of the vibe is classic Townshend! The lyrics are great! Love the message, love the energy...GREAT!!! Take care. Greg
Not much to add, other than agree with all the positive things that have been said. There's a bit of Townshend in your inflection, and a bit of Winwood in the synths.
Excellent write, well produced, good performance, fun listen.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
