Dear Forum Friends

Good to hear your recent music. I hope everyone is well and doing fine.

I've been busy the last few weeks working on a new song called "We'll Remember You." We wrote the song to honor my mother who passed away last summer. It's not your typical tribute tune.

Being a proud Greek-American, my mother brought her distinct culture to our home. She also loved to dance, so I wrote music she could dance to and arranged it with Greek mandolins and bouzoukis.

We hope you like it.

As usual, I'll post the BIAB technicals and SoundCloud link in a few days for PGM.

Super backtrack. Song has a familiar feel to. Like an old rock tune... Loved it. Super vocal. Maybe an "Under the Boardwalk" vibe.

Hello, SpaceDog

Great tribute!
Love bouzoukis.
It reminds me of Zorba The Greek - Sirtaki.
Greek dance comes to my eyes.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

A very fitting tribute SpaceDog, and a permanent keepsake of your Mum.
The bouzouki is a favourite instrument of mine; I bought one a while back in Crete.

Wonderful and what a cool idea to use those most appropriate RTs!

May she RIP and dance along to this.

Superb!

Rob. Thanks. Glad you liked it.

Scott. "Under the Boardwalk" had a similar bass line and rhythm. The Tango or Beguine rhythm was an integral part of the concept for this song.

Shigeki. Thanks. I listened to a lot of Greek music growing up and then studied a few iconic Greek songs while I was working on this. I'm glad I got the sound close.

Bob. Thanks for listening and taking time to comment. I like your new photo icon.

John. I'm so pleased you liked the song. The bouzouki solo is actually three midi tracks with nylon guitar and steel guitar. I tried to mimic the midi style from BIAB. I also searched online for bouzouki synths but couldn't find anything for free.

J&B. Thanks, I'm sure she would have liked it. I found two mandolin RTs that seemed to fit the style alright. Ironically, she hated playing the mandolin. Like the lyric says, she just wanted dance the Greek folk dances.

I also a bouzouki RT but it didn't make the final mix.

Thanks everyone.

What a wonderful tribute space dog.

I love Greece. I lived in Spetses for a while. It was a blast. Beautiful--and always a soap opera.

I liked the part where the feuding families in town show up to a restaurant on Saturdays, throw plates at one another, break the furniture, punch one another, then start hugging and crying and saying they really love another, all the while the Romeo and Juliet lovers from across the families are yelling and screaming.

It's like West Side Story.

I love Greece man. Good times!!!

smile

Put me in coach!!

Robert, Thanks. The lyrics are all true. I hope they resonate with the listeners.

Sergio, Glad you liked it. The two cultures merged as one in our family were Greek and Italian. There was a lot of great music and food on Sunday.

Peter, Thanks for listening and commenting

David, Sounds wild. It must have been so much fun. Greeks live large and load. Those bouzoukis and mandolins really get my olive oil flowing. OPA!

This is a beautiful tribute, and a beautiful song smile Definitely unique for a song like this. It was a breathe of fresh air hearing the upbeat mood and positivity in the music despite the topic. It really shows the celebration of her life, and the appreciation of the memories made with her. She sounds like she meant a lot to you and others around her smile

Very well done - thanks for sharing this one!

Nice tribute....more of a "We'll remember the good times" versus a song of mourning. I'm sure she'd love it!! Instrumentation is great. Sorry for your loss...my mother is approaching the end and it is very hard to see her degenerate. Enjoyed this! Take care. Greg

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
