Is there a way to use Sforzando files downloaded from the internet into BIAB for Mac 2017?
If yes how to do it?

2nd
After recording mid files with my keyboard or guitar, how can I play them back using real tracks keeping the same notes as I originally recorded them in my midi files?

Thanks a lot

Hi D,

1) What exactly are you referring to as Sforzando files? Are you referring to soundfonts?

2) RealTracks are made from audio recording of musicians playing complete phrases, not individual notes, so they'll only follow the chord changes you've entered, not your melodies. Sforzando can play your notes though.

Thanks
Kent

D____,

Welcome to the forum!

1st) Yes you can use sounds you find on the internet in Sforzando. You insert the player into the first plug-ins slot in the Band-in-a-Box track. You will need to look at the Mac users manual for directions to insert a plug-in. If you are not familiar with using Sforzando, the latest version and user manual are available for download +++ HERE +++

2nd) Not likely because MIDI is data while RealTracks are audio. MIDI data is embedded into most RealTracks to support notation but the midi data may not contain all the information needed to playback properly. RealTracks are audio phrases that occur at the most every quarter note while midi data can occur hundreds or thousands of times a bar.

Yes just drag the instrument.sfz into Sforzando vst or see here to add them to the Biab SFZ Library http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=419877#Post419877

That is still in the wishlist, but you can use Sforzando for now http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=414564#Post414564

The answers you've received are correct regarding RealTracks. However, since you are recording your instrument playing live, whether you decide to use midi or guitar, you can use the audio or midi with your Biab project which will of course, either will be note for note.

Thanks for the replies about Sforzando
I am a mac user on Sierra.
Do I need to modify the ".xml" file in
/Library/Application Support/PG Music Inc/Band-in-a-Box Sounds.bank.xml?

I will only quote the first instrument in the list,
What I have is as follows:

<AriaBank id="2050" name="Band-in-a-Box Sounds" vendor="PG Music Inc" product="Band-in-a-Box Sounds" version="1000" cc7_support="1" cc10_support="1">

<!-- <Define name="$sample_dir" value="../Samples"/> -->

<AriaGUI path="GUI/bb_info.xml" target="*ARIA_INFO" />

<!-- Bass -->
<AriaProgram name="Bass/61 Classic Bass" gui="GUI/Generic.xml"> <AriaElement path="Programs/Bass/61 Classic Bass.sfz"/> </AriaProgram>

What about the AriaElement path?
Thanks for clarification

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
