After 45 minutes of searching with such vanilla key words as in the title, I gave up with no results even close to what I need. I have a song that I need to change 1 bar in one place and again in another from 4/4 to 2/4. After not being able to find anything in help (that manual is FAR too complicated) I decided to just kneel before you and ask here, though I know it has been asked many times. I just can't hit the right search terms to drill down to it.
Measure, time.... almost every post has one of those words, but there is no other way to ask it.
How do I change my bar 33 to 2/4? I have a feeling it is simple, just not obvious.

I smashed the hell out of my car today. When the cops came I told him "Officer, that guy was BOTH texting and drinking a beer." The cop said "Sir, he has every right to do that. I mean, it's HIS living room..."
At bar 33 press f5 or Right click your mouse to bring up the Bar Settings dialogue, near the top you have options for # Beats this Bar. Remember to reset at the bar you want to return to 4/4.
f5 did nothing, but I found it at the bottom of the EDIT drop down. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

Re: "f5 did nothing." That's interesting. If you highlighted bar 33 (e.g. clicked with the mouse) and pressed function key F5, nothing happened? Were there any other dialogs opened in BiaB at the time?
BTW: This is BiaB or RealBand?

I did exactly that. Highlighted the bar and hit f5. And it is Real Band., I have still never even launched BIAB.

You need to take a look at the Meter Map. This lets you change time signatures at whichever bar you select, and shows you where those changes are on one screen.
My understanding is that RealTracks and MIDI styles will follow those changes when you regenerate the arrangement (but won't change automatically just because you changed the meter settings.
If you look at the top toolbar buttons, you'll see the buttons for Track, Chords, Mixer, and Bars. The Meter map is a small yellow button to the right of "Bars".

Thanks guys. Once you showed me where to look I figured it out.

Hello, I am relatively new to BIAB. Related to this topic, I am trying to change one bar from 4/4 to 3/4 and then back to 4/4 (in a few places in a song). When I go to the "bar settings" and change the #of beats to 3 in that bar, I get 3 beats and then a silent beat (meaning it plays 3 beats and then does a one beat rest) so essentially staying in 4/4 time. Does anyone know how to just get a 3-beat bar in the middle of a 4/4 song? Any help appreciated. Thanks
If it is Realband issue; I'd instead make the change in the Meter Map instead .. either program will need to Regenerate the tracks to to play as expected.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
Did you regenerate your song after making the change?
And remember, the change stays in effect until you change it back. So if it's just for one bar, then change it to 3 for that bar, then change it back to 4 for the next bar. Or if it stays in 3 for bars 5 through 7, just change it to three on bar 5, but back to 4 on bar 8.
Otherwise, I would try a reset to factory settings and try again. The feature does work; I just did it this morning on a song that changes time signature multiple times between 4, 3, and 2.

This sounds like an issue we're aware of with Band-in-a-Box for Mac, meter changes have always had issues when using RealTracks. If it's happening in the Windows version, or in RealBand, I'd definitely like to replicate and report it though.
I was searching for the same thing today. There's a "meter map" button button that allowed me to change time signatures for different measures. I'm using RealBand 2020.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
