So peeps, I wanted a hooky as you know what keyboard hook on this tune because I had a talk with Hear to Learn about writing some hooks. So, I called up my buddy and bandmate Jon Healey in LA and asked him to lay down some keyboard hooks old school.

And he did it.

Just so you know in advance, I am going to bump this like 1,000 times now that the forum is back in order.

Every Day I Write a Hook
By David Snyder

Intro

Yeah I’m taking over country
Taking over country, yeah

V1

Well it’s time for great Britain to
take over Music Row
Tell the boys on 16th avenue
Where they can go
They can put it in a place where the sun doesn’t shine
Cause one of these days
The cutest girls will be mine
Might be from Liverpool
But baby I’m no fool
Cause I can write the hits that make the big girls drool

CH:

And every day, every day
Every day I write a hook
Every day, every day, every day
And when Taylor Swift hears this
I’ll get the sweetest kiss
and a pouty look, a pouty look
Cause every day, every day I write the hook

V2

Well you know that John and Paul
They wouldn’t stand for this
Crap music on the radio
That’s always hit or miss
They would ring up up George Martin head out for Abbey Road
They only need four tracks
To show the rednecks what they know
And I might not be in fashion
But baby I’m no fool
Cause I can write the hits that will send you back to school

CH:

And every day, every day
Every day I write a hook
Every day, every day, every day
And when Taylor Swift hears this
I’ll get the sweetest kiss
And a pouty look, a pouty look
Cause every day, every day I write a hook

Bridge

And I don’t need to drive
A big ugly truck
To prove that I’m a man
And if you played baseball
In high school
You know I don’t give a damn
Cause…

CH:

Every day, every day
Every day I write a hook
Every day, every day, every day
And when Taylor Swift hears this
I’ll get the sweetest kiss
And a pouty look, a pouty look
Cause every day, every day
Every day I write a hook

Sorry, I thought it was an intentional reference to Elvis' Costello's Every Day I Write the Book.

Chorus:
And I'm giving you a longing look
Everyday
Everyday
Everyday
Everyday I write the book.

Well gee Dave, ya know I never thought of that!!!!!

Anyway, the chords are different and the notes are completely different, and the phrasing is different so I think I am safe.

There is a nod, of course, that is part of the joke.

Thanks beatmaster.

For it to be a dead copy the notes have to be the same and they are not.

Thanks for the feedback!!!!

A hint of mid career Dylan in this, apart from the voice of course. grin I particularly enjoyed the chorus.

Don't ask me why -- cuz it makes no sense -- but for some ineffable reason this sounds to me like Sam the Sham meets Bob Dylan. I couldn't stop listening . . .

Who is this Elvis you speak of?

I was thinking, this needed a hip hop groove and a rapper.

Really well done, David! Great groove, and a really powerful vocal performance. I thoroughly enjoyed the lyrics too. Not to mention, I think that hook is going to be stuck in my head for a while too.

Thanks for sharing smile

Hello, David

Very catchy song!
Your vocal with Dylan feel is perfect for this song.
The riff of keyboard is really nice.
I've watched Elvis' Costello's "Every Day I Write the Book" on Youtube now.
I think your song is quite different from it.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Very different tune David. Really liked the backtrack and super vocal and lyric. The synth had a pretty cool sound to it...

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
