Hi
Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do on the 2018 version? I am doing this on my PC with the 2014 PC version.

I will answer my own question........... No, it cannot !!!!!!!! I have purchased the Mac 2018 Version only to have it promptly returned for a refund.

It's a shame, I have been using my 2014 PC Version to do this ( and it does it quite well )

I use BIAB to produce a Lead Sheet with Lyrics/Chords from a midi file.

I was hoping to use my 2017 MacBook Air to do this.

Oh Well !!

No comaparison between WIN & MAC versions.
My solution is to use BIAB 2018 WIN by using Paralells on my MacBook all on external drive.

keyboard,
That functionality (importing lyrics when reading in a MIDI file) is currently not present on the Mac version. It was scheduled for this release, but didn't quite make it. It is expected to be added in the first (free) 2018 patch, expected to be released in a week or so.

>>> No comparison between WIN & MAC versions.
That statment might have been true 5 years ago, but it is not true today. Now they are very close, and Mac exceeds in some ways (better latency, overall sound). The proof of that is the things that people are pointing out that may be on Windows but not Mac are all minor features. The major ones are all there and work the same. The minor ones (e.g. lyric editor dialog accessed from the event list) we are working on and add them especially when someone points them out.

Any timeframe on the Piano Roll (you mentioned in an earlier post)?
Also any progress on the the Edit Lyrics (Dialogue Box) which only function is that it deletes anything you try to edit.

Within a week for both of those (free patch)

I have since returned it for a refund. I will revisit in a month to see if the functionality that I am after, is there.

I will repurchase as soon as this release is obtainable.

Will there be an official announcement when this update is available?

Well, for someone who works a lot with Melody & lyrics, I find there is no comparison between MAC 2017 & WIN version, as far as getting things done. I have both WIN & MAC versions but have to do most Melody & Lyric work in Windows. Not being able to copy lyrics is another issue (ie needing to retype choruses) which also needs to be addressed (if it hasn't been in MAC 2018). So for much of my work there is no comparison. That said, song generation and sound quality is very good.

Regarding, importing lyrics with midi file (which is also supposedly on the way) opening as XML works for me with lyrics (from Notion) but musical some notes get misinterpreted (ie certain notes as naturals instead of sharps - usually same not throughout the song), same XML imports fine into my WIN version. Maybe this will be fixed as well (also it would be nice if notation scroll ahead worked beyond 60 or so bars.....)

However, on Peter's advice that the Lyric editor & Piano Roll is a week away, I'll upgrade to 2018 version.

Yes it’s coming later today as a free patch. In the meantime if you want to watch the video on the piano roll it’s here. http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=474978&#Post474978

I have re-purchased the Mac Version. And I am finally able to import the lyrics from a midi file.

Am I the only one that would like to create a clean looking Lead Sheet? I am struggling trying to do this!

There used to be a way where I could delete a lot of extra fluff from the Lead Sheet. Just where da heck do I do this?

In the PC Version, there was an "Event Editor" where I could alter/delete to my heart's content. And it worked very well !

Please advise

Ron

Hi Keyboard,

If you're looking for the MIDI Event List, it's in the Notation Window. Look for the "#" button, to the left of the "L" button used to edit lyrics.

Thanks

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
