Hi, We’ve updated the 2018 Mac version to add major feature – a piano roll. The free patch is available for 2018 users, and is available here http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=475019#Post475019Note that all orders downloaded on May 28,2018 or later already have this patch so don't need it. We’ve also made a video demoing the new piano roll feature on the Mac and you can watch it here https://youtu.be/GXuM5Y-O3xUThere are a few other additions coming in this free patch today for example improvements in lyrics handling and import from midi files. They are described in the link above.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

Sorry to begin a new "pester" so soon! But...... A really useful nice-to-have now would be keyboard shortcuts ( Up Down left right keys for example ) for the PR MIDI editor. Switchable between the same shortcuts on one's favourite DAW - so Ableton or Cubase/Logic etc users can continue to use the same shortcuts they are all used to.
Big Sur, Mac Mini i7 2018, 64GB RAM 2TB SSD Yamaha PSR SX 900, Cubase, Ableton, UNIFY, OPUS ORCHESTRATOR, MASCHINE, Vienna Ensemble Pro ,Audiofuse, L6 HELI, KOMPLETE, Komplete Kontrol 88 Lockdown beard, podgy face, beer belly, bald patch ... yadda yadda

Also nice to have would be being able to audition any of the piano-keys on the left-hand side piano by clicking on them would be really useful in order to quickly audition which octave is right to place a not in - or just to test which note is on which line before adding a new note. Personally.... as a total Ableton fan-boy - just replicating how the Ableton piano-roll editor works mouse and shortcut-wise would be cool but I imagine Logic/Cubase and other DAW users will want things a little their way too...

[EDIT ! DOH! it does this already.. IGNORE ] Also - a common MIDI editing feature is that when one clicks on a piano-key - it selects ALL the MIDI events that are on that particular note. And Shift-select with this words often too. ( and of course i'm thinking oh how Ableton does things here ) PS - nice that you included the GHOST note feature. Very handy and only added to ableton recently ! )

Hi nochai, Your suggestions may get more views, support and discussion by posting them in the Band-in-a-Box wishlist section of the forum +++ HERE +++. As it presently stands many viewers may pass over this thread since the topic is about Mac getting the piano roll view. Since more Windows users than Mac users post in the forum it will be helpful to indicate your request is for the Mac edition of Band-in-a-Box.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
