I gotta slap this one on ya'll while it's still hot. It Is a country waltze called "Banjo Waltze" That I wrote. I am barely slipping it by with using BIAB because all I used from BIAB (You are gonna think I'm corny) is the virtual drumset which I looped and punched into the recording (I used the side of the snare and some center and the bass drum.) It is the thump bang, thump bang you hear or( or maybe it's more of a bump chick, bump chick. The timing is a bit off but hey it could sound live, right? I did the vocals and the banjo is actually me picking out a melody. (However the banjo I my variax set on the banjo position.) And the acoustic guitar is also me on my variax set to acoustic guitar low in the back ground brought in on the first dubbing with the vocals. The banjo I picked out on the second dubbing. This song is a for fun song... https://soundcloud.com/countryjammer/banjo-waltze C.Dan

This is an excellent use of BIAB. It is so much to just put up a few instruments add a style click play and play to your hearts content. Add an acoustic maybe a fiddle or a pedal steel and let her rip.

You can't get more live than this. This sounds like a front porch jam session that was recorded after one too many sips of Jack Daniels!
I think if you clean this up and keep a steady beat you would have a real winner on your hands. But this was OK as you said it was a fun song.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I would really like to add a fiddle into the mix on this song. I can remix it later and try to get it through the box.. I can't play fiddle, even though I have two of them. So I will probably use real tracks in the future to work one in. C.Dan

I played acoustic guitar in the background on the first overdub. It was clear until I added the drums and the scratching record effect. It seems to have gotten lost, although I can still hear it in with the banjo. C.Dan

This is a really neat tune As others have said, it sounds incredibly live. It almost sounds like an improv tune. I like how it has a lot character to it, and how raw it sounds it. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Deryk

I have to agree that it does sound like a live jam session. I think although you feel it just passes for the "using Band-in-a-Box" requirement, I think it's still a very interesting use of the program.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
