laugh Ah, yes! I happily wasted a chunk of time listening to old Seeker songs on YouTube a couple months back. Perhaps some of it rubbed off.

But I'm nowhere as cute as Judith. wink

Thanks for listening!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi, Robert.

Johnny Tedesco had a guitar book filled with lots of useful information, interleaved with amusing anecdotes, ostensibly so that people who had no intention of playing guitar would get some enjoyment from the book.

In a similar vein, if people don't like my song, hopefully they'll find the narrative amusing. laugh

David,
Definitely your best till date.
Clearly a lot of work went into this and... it paid off!
The vocals are top notch. So is the arrangement.
We had a mild Mike Batt moment with this, which is good we think smile

I just checked him out on YouTube - I'd heard the Art Garfunkle rendition of Bright Eyes from Watership Down, but didn't know Mike had written it. Cool!

Yes, it's a good thing. smile

Very nice harmonious pop song with good melody, soft arrangement and great vocals. I like how you bring that excellent sounding cello to front at right moments.

Interesting to read the Goldsboro references. I grew up only a few miles from his birthplace. He was playing with and individually on a bill with Roy Orbison at the first concert I attended -- in high school...I digress smile

We always enjoy your backstories. And we are down with floyd that you need to stop hammering yourself regarding the vocals. They sound fine and the harmonies are exquisite. I know nothing about pitch software but whatever you are doing works. So there!

Just a big ole ditto on ALL the accolades that have preceded us.

This is an engaging, well arranged, well written and well mixed production. Nice and lush on the monitors.

Kudos!

Will do!

The intent of talking about pitch correction sort of backfired. I didn't really want to complain about my vocals, but encourage other people who might not be that confident about their vocals to use it as a tool.

Pitch correction certainly helped me feel better about posting my own vocals, and that's really what I was trying to get across.

So I'll stop complaining! smile

Thanks!

Like I have a right to suggest that as I'm a guy who complains about my productions until the cows come home! It's in us all...the alternative is the dreaded complacency! BTW, I didn't mean to appear dismissive of pitch correction programs...I'm just ignorant of them.

Cheers,

Bud

Which is great, because you don't need them!

I appreciate the feedback, because it let me know I wasn't doing a good job getting my point across. laugh

Hello, David

Very Pop!
It is an excellent song.
Your vocal is also really comfortable.
I think you have proven that it will be a wonderful arrangement without using additional instruments in particular with only the current ability of BIAB.
If the song needs a classical orchestration, sometimes it is better to add instruments.
I think that it depends on songs.
However, in the case of this song, it is rather harmful.
I think that it is a wonderful completion as it is.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Nice to have those talented young ears around and interested in helping. So cool you can share your hobby with your kids. I thought the vocal should've been a little bit louder. Otherwise really nice arrangement and mix. I like your voice it reminds me of Gilbert O'Sullivan.

I'm not complaining! The kids - now mostly young adults - also sing and play with me in the (literal) Sunday choir, which is nothing less than awesome. laugh

I'll keep that in mind for the next mix. Getting the vocal to sit right in the mix is probably the trickiest bit. I intentionally dialed it back here. My original mix had the vocal more upfront, but was a lot harsher.

Hopefully I'll get closer next time. wink

Thanks for listening and the feedback!

Lot's of well deserved praise. A really pretty number that sounds great.

Good pop song! Especially like the chorus, very strong, and love the harmonies. Nice job on the mix too!

Enjoyed the listen! Also enjoyed reading your production notes, always interesting to see how projects come together.

Thanks!

I started out this song with a number of intentions, like using more alliteration, and being happy and upbeat. Somehow that didn't happen. But next time, for sure! wink

I appreciate the positive feedback!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
