Hello all. It has been a while since I posted. Looks like I'm going to have plenty of new stuff to listen to. I'm posting a new song that I have been mulling over for some time. I originally had a more upbeat feel to the music for this one, but I kept holding back. Something did not feel right. I changed the arrangement from a major chord to a minor, and slowed the piece down. I realized that the mood of the music did not match the mood of the lyrics.
This is the result. I hope you like it.

Sounds good to me - nice and moody. I loved the guitar and the Ooohs and Aaahs.

Plus, you made me look up Marie Laveau. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Really nice work on this one Gary smile This is a really well done arrangement, and in particular I was surprised how well the saxophone worked with the country vibes here. A really strong vocal performance too, and a nice groove to boot. I'm getting an almost "smoky" feeling with this one.

Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Cheers,

Good Morning, Gary.

Haunting and sexy! Just enough b/g to fill in and nothing to get in the way. Blues is the perfect genre for your voice. terrific play on words. As always, you impress with your music. Nice!

Gary,
Good call to add some minor to this moody song.
Sax works well and your voice is ideal for this song.
Well done!

I don’t know what your original idea was for the song, but I think you were probably right to change it up the way you mentioned. The tempo is right for the messaging, and the overall minor tone fits as well. Definitely held my interest. I had to look up “Marie leveau”, so you motivated me to think about it further even after I listened. I especially liked the little subtle soft guitar riffs in the background. The overall understated production and your vocal with limited effects was very affective. Looking forward to hearing more from you!!

Thanks, Deryk. I have been holding back on this one for a while, but I'm glad you liked it. You mentioned the sax solo. I have a longtime affinity for saxophone music. I worked for several years with a saxophone player that made a lasting impression on me. I can still see him walking up and down the top of a bar down in Tennessee with a tenor sax in one side of his mouth and a soprano in the other, playing both at the same time. I've lost track of him over the years but I still think of him now and then. Thanks again and be well, Deryk.

As you know I love the blues and you did it justice here. This is your best to date. I loved the whole vibe here.

I have no idea what your original thoughts were but you nailed with this version.

Great vocal!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
