Sister of the Dark is dedicated to the sorceresses who work for the Dark Lord. This is haunting, evil sounding and at times unnerving.

Band-in-a-Box style Ambiention - Electronic provided all of the tracks except the lead. I modified the drum to better fit the song and I added the cymbals. I slowed the tempo from 94 to 50 BPM. I played the lead on my keyboard.

Let me know what you think, good or bad.

This is a really interesting track to come out of Band-in-a-Box.

I really enjoy songs that take the program on a different path.

Really dig the ambiance and ominous tone.

Very different! I had no idea BIAB could build a track like this to be honest. Cool stuff, Mario!

Really well done Mario smile This sounds really surreal - I could imagine it as part of a horror movie or sci-fi movie soundtrack. Very atmosphere, and very chilling and haunting.

Great job here - thanks for sharing!

Hi MarioD, What a cool theme for this! Love the use of atmospheric synths and pads. It really evokes a sense of mystery and intrigue, and almost a sense of "What did I get myself into?" Great work! Thanks for sharing! smile

Different and well done! Love the dark element of this. Great use of BIAB trax! Loved the tension and drama - so well done. if I could make one suggestions - I would use EQ to enhance the drum on the right channel and bring a little more forward in the mix. That's a very minor nit and sounds great as is. Just a thought about the drum. At the end, it (the drum) does move more forward in the mix. But if were there throughout, I think it would add to the tension. Just my thoughts.

Regardless, this is a super listen. What a great job you did!

I would like to thank everyone whom listened and commented on this song. I appreciate the constructive comments also.

I was a little worried about this one as it is so different from the usual postings so I'm glad you have liked it.

I believe that with BiaB and a little imagination one can produce any kind of music.

This would fit in great as a soundtrack to a really low-budget sci-fi film! laugh

Very cool, Mario. Well done. Interesting listen.

The added cymbals work well...

I do wish the you would list the instrument list (not just the style name), so I could look to it when I think "what WAS that!?" (instead of having to open BIAB and find the style - lazy, I know...)

Enjoyed.

Very creative!...glad I listened to this during daylight hours and not late at night!!

My only suggestion: maybe add a timpani or two along the way, to add to the dramatic sound.

Love how you take a left-turn in your BIAB musings and come up with something unique like this...you seem to always be uncovering some aspect of BIAB that I have yet to tap into.

Thanks Mario!

Thanx EMG, David, Floyd, Tano Music, Greg, cliftond and Mike for listening and commenting.

Floyd and others if interested, here are the instrument list and what I replaced them with:

bass - instrument GM2 39/2 synth bass 3 (resonance) = Kontakt multi-OB-Evil9

piano - instrument 90 pad-warm (slow) = Kontakt multi - Crypar pad radiation zone

guitar - instrument GM2 28/2 mid tone guitar = Ultra analog-plastic pop 1980-85 analog-45 saw waver

strings - instrument 91 pad-poly synth = Kontakt multi-logan vocalist-the etheric body

drums - instrument 26 rap tr808 drums = Kontakt-versilian-us-timpani

cymbals - wav file

I know the replacement instruments (kontakt etc) probably will not mean anything to some or most of you. I thought that those with Kontakt might like to know.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
