My biggest grief with the fairly priced RT's is still that the sololist type ones mainly 'suck', especially when you switch beat counts within a bar during an arrangement. Also when applied in Realband. Generating the tracks completely miss out bars.

These RTs ar then all of a sudden become quite expensive by being worthless IMO ... sounding nice in a standard 4/4 etc situation, occasionally missing a bar or two,

I recently sent a complex arrangement to PGsupport, mainly 3/4, but occasionally 4/4, missing a lot of bars.
RT errors etc

Never got a reply for about 2 weeks now.

I tried my songfile file yesterday with more RTs, same story. It seem s these RT's have never been properly beta tested?
And no one seems to complain, only me LoL. So what's up PG programmers? F

I've found this to be true on a few RTs also.
My 'fix' has been to use the MultiRiff feature in RB to generate multiple tracks and slice/dice them to fit.

On one 7/4 experiment I found a given RT to play only on the first half of a measure and another on the second half only .. so I arranged them in a call/answer pattern to make it work and keep moving.

FWIW I like to tinker with odd times like 7/4, 11/8 etc, so I thought I was likely the cause; such odd times would not be tested/attempted by many others, and not part of the design/intent of the RTs.

Also, know that there are many many beta testers, but we are limited on time for testing so we can only test so much. It would be virtually impossible to test all new RTs in every possible scenario.

/we do the best we can in the time allotted

Hi Rharv ... Now you got me curious ... can you may be post a demo of how you made these call/ answer thing? PS just got a mail from Alyssa .... "We have passed along your findings to our developers to see if they can come up with a way to accommodate time signature changes using that particular RealTrack Soloist .." So we need to report all them erroneous ones ... F

You asked;
This should be a WMA file of this experiment -
http://www.masteringmatters.com/stuff/7-4-2013A.WMA

If you want to see the SEQ file (at some point in time near there) -
http://www.masteringmatters.com/stuff/7-4_8-2013.SEQ

Like I said, it was an experiment and I had fun with it, but I did notice the odd behavior of these particular RTs .. one called & one answered, so I just went with it at the time .. just trying to have fun with it.

Weird how one solo RT seemed to generate the 1st half a measure and the other seemed to favor the second half, but again I was using an odd time signature that I don't think these were meant for or tested for smile
The drums/bass/rythm gtr/piano seemed to adapt OK. But the solo RTs were pretty selective.

I love experimenting with this kind of stuff and just seeing what happens, and if I get on a roll, I'll run with it.
This particular run lasted for a day or two but as always I had fun with it.
It rang a bell when you mentioned your issue, so thought I'd mention my similar observations .. though different.

Nice one .... i tried to figure out what you did, got the same sounding file of WMA and SEQ (regenerated in RB v5), but i am a RB rookie, almost never work with it: Where can you find the per-bar beat count settings, as in BIAB with F5, but in Realband they're missing. Any SGU or MGU file of this piece to look at? Loading an exported SGU from RB in to Biab shows them alright, so you must have started there LoL. You loaded the RT soloists afterwards in RB I guess.

PS A pity Andy's superb mandolin solo RT sucks here too, as i found earlier. Mailed support about this about a year ago, they haven't fixed it so far with the recent RT updates. .... thnkx F

Not sure what Per Bar Beat Count means unless it is the Time Signature.

In RB I open the Meter window and enter time changes for a given point, then back later if needed.
Since this whole song is in 7/4 (I think, from memory), I think I just set it in the Time sig box in the toolbar at top.
I would never try that time sig or any other truly odd time in BiaB, So there is no SGU or MGU file for this one.
RB handles odd time so much better, so I just started in RB.
In RB the Meter window just inserts time signature changes at a given bar and you change it again later if you want using the same meter window.
Yes, I just added tracks as I went and experimented. I used the Multiriff feature to Generate multiple tracks of the same soloist to choose from and then sliced/diced what I found and pasted into one track (bottom image). I find this relaxing and fun sometimes when I have a free moment.
I'll post images of the Time Sig thing in a sec

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
