Dead Letter Postman

this world`s turning into
a space headstone
thunder in the sky
horse hooves rattle bones
mad woman in the attic
was right all along
they found the last line
to her unfinished song
found the last line
to her unfinished song

saddlebags full to busting
eyes ablaze
to deliver his round
before the end of days
lovers poem from muddy
fields of shame
desperate note fell
from the wagon train
desperate note fell
from the wagon train

come to mend all loose ends
the dead letter postman
rides again

judgement by mail
on the pony express
mark of heaven
on his epaulets
no chaos no caution
will ambush his flight
see him riding
through a tear in the night
see him riding
through a tear in the night

shadows all circled with light
when the dead letter postman
sets things right
come to mend all loose ends
the dead letter postman
rides again

Robert & Scott...

"see him riding
through a tear in the night"

What a great line. Very visual lyrics throughout - as always.

An this:
"mad woman in the attic
was right all along
they found the last line
to her unfinished song"

Cool tracks. Scott's guitar (lapsteel) compliments nicely.

Enjoyed it.

Cool.
Quicksilver Messenger Service vaguely countryish Psych.
Ceriatone make very cool amps.
Personally I'd like the vocals a little lower in the mix but that's personal taste.
Tasty additions on guitar & lapsteel.

Love your psychedelia stuff!

Lyrics are fabulous, so many great lines. Vocals sound good too.

And Scott is the king of coming up with catchy, melodic lines in my book, very effective and memorable (lap steel is cool too!)

Excellent work Robert and Scott, enjoyed the listen!

Great work on this Robert! I really enjoyed the overall progression and I found this very easy to listen to. Great work on the guitars and nice work on the vocals and use of EFX. Cool picture on soundcloud too!

Floyd,

Thanks - it encourages me a great deal to hear that positive response to lyrics, though for once this song began with the chord changes.
I think you`ll be hearing more of Scott`s new lap steel; he seems to be on a fast learning curve!

Now how could you know the original Quicksilver Messenger Service are my favourite band of the era?
I`ll give the mix another listen re: vocal levels- definitely want that lapsteel to come through.

Really loved this song the first time I heard the demo track. Was a little nervous putting in the lap steel as it is quite a different beast. Tom Adams is quite an accomplished pedal steel player and had me thinking of trying this instrument out. After listening to Graham's lap steel songs it knocked me off the fence. Has some very interesting sounds in it..

Yes, you guys are becoming quite a team!! I never tire of the trippy 60's/70's sound. It is a huge part of my musical identity. Very cool!! Great job by you both!! Take care. Greg

Your songs are a bit more "challenging" that most - but after a couple of listens, I got the hang of it.

Nice, it grew on me. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I really enjoyed this one Robert smile I love the slow progression here. Definitely a hint of psychedelia here, which is never a bad thing in my opinion! The tone of the tune is almost mystical, and there's some really nice guitar work - plus, your vocals match the pulse of the tune perfectly.

Great work and thanks for sharing!

Hi Robert,

Very dark and very profound. Lots of imagery here and lots to think about,
even long after the music has ended.

Some of the best lyrics I can remember seeing on the forum.

Nicely done.

I blame BiaB for unleashing this kind of songwriting - wouldn`t have dreamed of writing these songs with no way to bring the backing to life... oh, and then I found this cool guitarist who had a use for my words!
Many thanks for your positive comments.

Some very cool images in the lyrics. After listing to Graham’s lapsteel (furry) Thought I would pick one up. Lots of fun and a little easier on the hands.

Well, that hits on ALL of our the buttons smile

We always think of you when Songtadr requests submissions of psychedelia. And yours are so very literate.

We love it all AND by the way have been fans of the lap steel since the early Dave Lindley's time with Jackson Browne.

Excellent!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
