Hi All,

From time to time, as many of you know, I like to fly the flag for PowerTracks Pro Audio which I feel is often
over-shadowed by BiaB and Realband. It would be a great DAW at any price, but at $49 it's simply amazing.
So this is done from start to finish in PowerTracks and uses only PG effects and a couple of free VSTs.
The main guitar is my old Telecaster, the solo is Jazzmaster and the bass is Fender Jazz.
The drums are sampled from an old '60s Ajax kit and played back through the Drum Source Sample Player.
Finally, many thanks to my friend Malcolm for letting me play his cherished Hammond C3 on this track.

In this song, I've deliberately left the plot open-ended so you can decide for yourselves exactly where she's gone!
Perhaps she met with an untimely end, or ran off with a truck driver, or maybe she's just visiting her mother for
a few days. If you have any ideas let me know.
Play it LOUD if you can.

NO SLEEP (since you've been gone)
Four-o-clock in the morning
I hear the church clock strike
I walk across to the window
Another sleepless night
The whisky doesn't cure it
It only makes things worse
It doesn't cure the heartache
It only cures the thirst
The night just seems so long
No sleep since you've been gone

Four-o-clock in the morning
The darkness gets me down
It presses down like velvet
But never makes a sound
I turn my eyes towards the east
I'm looking for a sign
Three more hours till daybreak
When the sun begins to shine
The night just seems so long
No sleep since you've been gone

As always, I'm just grateful to anyone who has time to give it a listen.

Thanks, ROG

Yeah! I love this one, what a great groove and riff!

Guitars and bass sound great, as do the drums. Very cool fx on the vocal too.

Great stuff Roger, enjoyed!

(I played it LOUD as per your instructions BTW, LOUD == GOOD smile

Great work here smile It sounds really professionally mixed, and the groove here is superb. It packs a lot of punch, and the vocals lend merit to that as well. This is precisely the kind of tune I'd imagine sounding unreal in a live setting.

Good job and thanks for sharing!

The harmony on the minor passage that serves as the bridge sounds SO much like ELO!!! And the vocoder on the outro was "Mr Blue Skies" all the way!

Remember the settings you used on this guitar solo for an upcoming song I will be sending.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

We enjoyed:

The backstory,

The cool write,

The lead and BGV's,

The Fender guitars, smile

The arrangement,

The mix, and

The way it sounded on our sound system.

We will throw out an over used but apt word EPIC!

J&B

PS We don't care where she went so long as she inspired this song! smile

ROG,

This one was easy to "get lost in"... one of those where you stop thinking about how it was put together and just listen... and a terrific listen it is.

Cool guitar work all around. Excellent solo. Cool vocals (and effects).

Everything in the mix sit where it should.

This stick in your head well after it is over. Nice. A good "pop rock" write.

Rog

Loved the guitar sounds (like Herb reminds me of Dire Straits) and the song is immediately accessible.
Very nice solo and bass playing.
A pro piece from start to finish.

Rog you had me hooked before the first measure was completed! Your guitar and bass work was great through out this song. Your mix was perfect.

Ps- its not the DAW. It's the musician that makes the music and you are a musician's musician.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I also got Dire Straits and ELO vibes. Very powerful rocker with nice vocals, I like especially the solo part and its chording. The vocoder effect is also nice addition.

Hi Herb,
Many thanks for looking in. I can certainly live with Dire Straits and although I hadn't
thought about it at the time, those guitar effects are definitely a bit ZZ Top.
Hey, glad you enjoyed the cowbell - sometimes you've just got to do it!
Thanks again for the positive comments.
Cheers, ROG.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
