Tech S.O.S. - General tech help for computers or music equipment.
The purpose of this forum is for people to get assistance from the community for any computer related or music equipment tech question. Anything remotely tech or musical is fair game. Examples: - my guitar sound has a buzz when I plugin to my guitar - which type of guitar strings are best for a telecaster? - my iPhone won't charge -why? - what's a good set of home speakers for a living room. - should I buy an android or iPhone? - what's a good entry level saxophone to buy? - is a 4K TV worth it?
Note: This is an "Off-Topic" help forum. For assistance with Band-in-a-Box and other PG Music Products, you should post on the appropriate "PG Music Product" forum.
How could I save the number of chorus of the song (that does'nt work as it goes with the others song paramaters (tempo, tonality, number of measures) ?
Welcome to the forum. I recommend you post this in the BIAB Product forum, about seven below this one. It will get attention there.
I'll make a comment anyway: The number of choruses defaults to 3. If you change that, it will get saved with the song; nothing special to do. Perhaps I'm not understanding your question, so best to post there. Thanks.
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors
... Thanks for your answer but that worked whith my previus version (BIAB 2010). It no more works since I use BIAB 2016. I just recover tonality and tempo re-opening the song. Re-opening the song change automatically the nb of chorus in '5'.
I looked through the prior posts. I have 8 gigs of RAM. Wanting to know if more RAM will help BIAB run faster. What is the maximum amount of RAM BIAB can address?
BiaB is a 32 bit app, so about 4, I think.. You can use more for 64 bit plugins (VSTs and VSTi's) by using JBridge.
If you want to find posts on this subject search for Topics named '64 Bit' .. you'll find some. Some of us find running the Realtracks and Realdrums from an SSD was the best speed improvement.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
The disk speed, especially with an SSD as Rharv said, made a huge improvement for me. But in my opinion the main determinant of BIAB speed is your single-core CPU speed.
RAM is not really a concern. JBridge allows a VSTi running in the 32-bit BIAB to run in more than 4 GB. BIAB itself doesn't appear to need more than the 3GB max available to programs in a 32-bit environment.

I have a few questions that maybe some tecky computer savvy persons can answer. I really suck at technology.
I had 2017 BIAB Pro and Real Band. Now I purchased the 2018 Ultra Pak as a separate hard drive which is called my G Drive.
I had also just purchased the 4 Set of Xtra Paks and had installed them on my C drive with the 2017 BIAB (of course they didn't really work with the Pro version).
When I plug in the external hard drive I see the BIAB and Real Band, alot of other folders and one called bb.
I assume I will delete the old C:\bb the old BIAB and Real Band.
Then, do I install the 4 Set Xtra Paks to the G:\bb file on the external hard drive?
Will the new BIAB read my older SEQ files where I have created songs?
Finally, the instructions for the external hard drive says "To prevent corruption you should always drag the icon for the BIAB to the trashcan before you remove the external hard drive" Hmmm! not sure why?
Hi, I'm having performance isse's w/BIAB. Using 2018 - during a a song, not every song but maybe every 3rd or 4th song mid-way into it I'm getting distortion, tempo slows to a crawl and once it began repeating a measure over and over. I'd called tech support early this week and was advised to set audio to mme. Not sure PG is open on Sat hence this post. Most of the music was done using 2017, is it possible there's a s/w conflict causing this? TIA
Quick note, you may want to post Band-in-a-Box performance questions in either the +++ Band-in-a-Box for Windows +++ or the +++ Band-in-a-Box for MaxIntosh +++ forum sections as your post will be seen by more users and you may receive more better or more accurate responses faster.
Band-in-a-Box partially assembles the song tracks before beginning playback and assembles the remainder of the the tracks as a background task during playback. Your computer maybe encountering issues with the program working in this manner.
Press Ctrl + E to open the Preferences Window, select the RealTracks button to open the RealTracks Preferences Window. Uncheck the option "Speed up generation of RealTracks". Also make sure "Use +/- RealTracks for generation" is NOT checked.
