This is really interesting indeed! A good read - and a reminder I'm way overdue for a good Eagles listening session. Thanks for sharing smile

Funny.

Henley could not see him touring without Frey ("the guy who started the band") in November 2016.

“It would just seem like greed or something,” says Henley. “It would seem like a desperate thing.”

Greed? Yup. grin

I read that the other day and as a fan of Dire Straits and Vince for decades I never knew about that connection.

It's strange that there is not one decent video of the Eagles with Vince on Youtube. I DETEST and refuse to watch cell phone vids. PERIOD. I would think they (Eagles) would upload one official video for the public to see Vince and the Frey kid.

Musicians just seem to have a real problem with making money. If you're srounging along the bottom of the barrel, you're starving for your art why that's ok but making too much is greed? Why is this greed?

You have one of the most legendary groups there ever was and the founder dies. So that means the whole huge thing that's been built up for 40 years had to die too? Musicians like to play, even in somebody's living room. Daryl's House anyone? And they really love to perform in public. Many of us have posted about that for years. Music is good for the soul, it's not a solitary pursuit, it's a performance art, etc etc.

So what are the rest of they guys supposed to do, just give it up? Does that make any kind of sense? Sure, immediately after Frey's death they're in shock, in mourning and say things like it's over, it can't ever be the same again, we're done. Then a year later, they're looking at each other and go, we can't just give it all up, he wouldn't want us to, etc.

Yes money is part of it but so what? They want to play man, that's their whole life, it's all they've ever done. Most people in any field when they retire don't want to just suddenly stop working either.

It was kind of funny reading Vince's reaction from the crowd when he sings "Take it to the Limit" feeling they are used to hearing Glenn sing it. It should encourage him greatly because prior to "Hotel California", "Take it to the Limit" was the fans overall favorite and was originally, as well as best, performed by ex-Eagle Randy Meisner and it seems the fans got over that initial change.

Dunno why they gave that song to him. Hasn’t Schmit sung it for years?

For reference, Vince Gill sang "I Can't Tell You Why" on the "Common Thread - The Songs Of The Eagles" tribute CD (which seems to now be a collectible), that came out 25 years ago in 1993.

Yeah, but the "Yup" is your word meaning you agree with the idea that if they continued on it would be greedy. Or, at least that's what it looks like to me, I could be wrong though...

Anyway, here's the YT vid of Gill singing Take It To The Limit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvUqxfk4O7E

It sure doesn't sound like the crowd feels like they're being taken advantage of by greed.

I saw them recently at the BOK Center in Tulsa. Absolutely killer show. Deacon Frey and Vince Gill were very well received by the audience (Vince Gill is almost a national hero here in Oklahoma). Beautiful tribute to Glenn Frey. My wife said afterwards it was the only concert she's ever been to where she knew every word to every song. People can vote with their dollars. It wasn't like I didn't know Glenn Frey had passed when I bought the tickets. It's good to see musicians having fun, entertaining people, AND making money. Of course, YMMV...

This thread had me checking out some more Vince Gill vids and I found this one. Killer guitar player indeed and he has a big fan named Chet Atkins, not too shabby.

Not shabby at all! I think you can see why Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and company thought he'd make a good addition.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
