I posted this over on the Xtra Styles 5 contest forum, but posted it here just in case it makes you laugh.

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs2/house-party

So, I ran the midi from that style through various "retro" synths, emulating classic synths of the 80s era like the Yamaha DX-7 and Prophet 5, along with bass synths. I am playing the guitar.

Intentionally, I did not push the volume on this but strove for an 80s mix. A tad more mixing info on the other posting.

Style: Rainbows, Category: Midi

House Party

By David Snyder

V1

House party gonna drive you crazy
You better hope that nobody comes
If you invite those people from church
You know they’ll probably be speaking in tongues
You should know that your friends are flaky
You’ve no idea what on earth you’ve done

CH

House Party gonna drive you crazy
House Party gonna make you insane
House Party's like life during wartime
House Party is a dangerous game
Say no no no no no no no no no no no no
Just say no

V2

House party, you better watch it
Everybody’s gonna get too high
They’ll drink too much and start committing adultery
Set off explosions when they trip the wire
House Party is more than you can handle
You know they’re going to set the house on fire

CH

House Party gonna drive you crazy
House party gonna make you insane
House Party ain’t no CBGBs
House Party is a dangerous game
Just say no

V3

Your friends know nothing about logging into Facebook
They’re only coming to your house to rock
They don’t nothing ‘bout an iPhone Facetime
They don’t know nothing about a Band in a Box
House Party’s gonna get you some jail time
House Party’s never gonna stop

CH

House Party's gonna drive you crazy
House Party's gonna make you insane
House Party maybe once in a lifetime
House Party is a dangerous game
Just say no
Say no no no no no no no no no no no no
Just say no
Just say no no no no no no
Just say no

Cool song, David! Definitely 1980s. Cool and interesting. Love the backing tracks and the chord progression is really cool, too. This genre really makes your voice shine - it fits perfectly. I think you hit all the high spot just perfectly.

"House party will get you some jail time" - free food, free accomodations, clean clothes every day or two, a chance to learn the ins and outs of the justice system. How can you wrong???

I'm gonna be hurt if I don't get an invite frown

Loved it, David. One of your very best. Your vical sets in the mix exceptionally well. Definitely on of my top favorites of yours from all these years.

What I like about so many of your songs is don't just give a s great song.Hidden in theat
great song you hide so many clues to mixing, producing and aeeangemets. You are a master of do those things by doing them so well and hiding them so well .

Best tyo, Buddy"

David,

There's no doubt about it, you boldly tread those paths of music-making that only the fearless few can walk. I'm not quite sure what to say, my brain is still trying to wrap itself around where it's just been. As I've said a number of times before, your creativity is truly astounding!

Hope you win!!!!

All the best,
Noel

Man, are you kidding me!!

If I heard this on the radio I would have guessed it was a previously unreleased Talking Heads track. You totally nailed the vibe of their music!

Very, very good indeed, loved everything about this track.

You continue to boldly go where no BIAB user has gone before! grin

David, you are one creative dude! I like how you expand the horizons and try all kinds of interesting stuff! I have to admit, I 'checked out' of pop music in the 80's, so if there's a reference there, I don't have it--but that means that I can listen without influences, and I hear in this: a great deal of skill, a lot of fun elements, expert marrying of the style and RT's to your musical concept--and something completely different and attention-grabbing for me! Something like this pushes me out of my own comfort zone and begs me to try something totally new..thanks for the inspiration!

Ok David...is your last name "Byrne" and middle name "Snyder" OR is your last name "Snyder" and your middle name "Byrne." Sorry man, you're busted.

And YOU gave me a hard time about being anonymous. I see your game. smile

If you could sell three minute excursions through the corridors of your brain you would own several large homes around the world.

That was a fun trip...feel like I know some of those folks smile

Enjoyed it!

And you may find yourself in a beautiful house
With a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, well
How did I get here?

That would be a REALLY good question.

Captured. Indeed.

Well done. Good write. Good production. Good listen.

Oh Yeah.

Hello, David

Very unique talent!
I agree with Deryk.
I'm also getting a Talking Heads sorta vibe here. It made me chuckle, and it's really catchy too.
Good luck with the Xtra Styles 5 contest!

Best regards.

I immediately thought Bowie, then Talking Heads, and then "There goes David again"!! I'm only listening on a macbook but even so the production sounds fantastic! And your vocal is great. This will be on your greatest hits Vol. 1 for sure!! Great stuff!!! Take care. Greg

Well I was going to say you nailed the Talking Heads vibe, but I see i was beaten to the punch. Funky. Were you wearing a giant suit when you recorded it.

Very enjoyable tune. Had me tapping the feet.

Dave

That was pretty exceptional. One of your best vocals to top it off.
A really good clever composition.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Great 80's groove with some Talking Head and Prince vibes. Your vocal is perfect fit, I like especially that funky guitar and the moaning synth. From Van Morrison to this, you are a true chameleon smile

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
