There is a thread about songs that have diminished and augmented chords in them. JonD and myself decided to write a song with a lot of Dim7 and Aug chords in it.

BiaB style = Rainbows All-MIDI 70's Synth Pop. I kept the drums and bass as is and deleted everything else.

JonD is playing the B3 via his keyboard controller while I am playing the guitar parts.

Let us know what you think.

Somewhat Diminished

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

An interesting and effective experiment. I enjoyed listening once the groove was established.
Nicely played.

Interesting. Well played, mixed and produced, but - for me - it never gathered much direction musically. Even the descending melodic bit didn't seem to give it much motion.

Maybe I just expect to hear circle of fifths progressions. I guess I'm that guy in the saying "you can't please everyone all the time." wink

Thanks for posting!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

No problem. I know that some of my posts are very different from other posts. You respectfully didn't say this sucks. I know that when I post some people may not like it. I have thick enough skin to take it.

Thanx for the constructive criticism.

Hm, interesting indeed. BTW, what drums did you used? They're very good sounding.

The groove is infectious.

Also great playing y'all (as usual) and the mix is spot on...especially when cranked up. smile

Enjoyed it and the cool title!

Nicely done, Mario!

Not Rock & Roll, but very cleverly put together.

It's good to hear stuff like this from time to time, to make us think
about what's possible.

Cheers, ROG.

As usual, unique and interesting work to explore the less-travelled roads.
I'm not sure you can create a "crowd pleasing' work that relies so heavily on diminished changes, as you've done...but that isn't the point.

Your exploration reveals lots of different ways that this special chord can be used to advantage..and I think you two gave the 'dim' chords everything you could in this!

Looking forward to what musical curiosities you decide to attack next!

Mario,

That was a very interesting excursion into musical texture! Very inventive. The composing, the mix, the instrumental work was all well done... but then isn't it always!

Thanks for sharing. I've never heard anything quite like this before and you gave me a lot of food for thought!

All the best,
Noel

Midi Drums sound good, Midi bass sounds good.

Instruments sound Brilliant, I think in a lot of the song postings on this forum.

A lot of folk forget, just how talented the posters are who play and add to their own songs.

Not only do they have to write the piece,Arrange , mix and master it.

They perform as well.

Enjoyed this. Thanks.

Mario,

I like the way you and JonD play off each other - a couple of guys jamming with undiminished enjoyment of their music, is the feeling I get.
Nice groove!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
