Hi All,

Here's something new and a bit folky…

This is called Falling Horses.

Falling horses
Running water
Late days in October cold
Mourning losses
Fading mortar
This barn is growing so old

But over and over in the meadows of gold
He runs on for days where the grasses still blow
And every now and then he shakes off the rain
With a swing of the mane

Falling horses
Down the mountain
The slow melt of April's last snow
Changing courses
Smart transporter
This day the wicked wind blows

But over and over in the meadows of gold
He runs on for days where the grasses still blow
And every now and then he shakes off the rain
With a swing of the mane

Hello Bob,

Love the sound of that guitar picking. Fantastic backing track. Intersting lyric, as well. I enjoyed the whole production. If anything, it was too short. I found myself wanting to hear more.

Very cool song, Bob!

(was hoping you would be popping back in soon...)

A great sound! Love the BAND! I would guess you processed that guitar in some way? It sounds so big. An excellent mix.

Your vocal processing on this really adds to the big sound, too. I like it! The whole thing has a "now" Americana sound.

Well done.

What an awesome song Bob. The intro was so cool. Acoustic in the backtrack was outstanding. This has to be one of your best vocal and lyric. A different favorite of mine

Very nice folk song, the chorus melody is especially beautiful. Always nice to hear that lovely RT #2914 in different kind of songs. Very poetic and lively lyrics. Mix and vocals are top quality.

Love it!

First of all, great to see you back here with a new song!

This Is definitely one of your best, you had my attention right from the first couple of bars. Very emotive vocal and great tone.

Track sounds great also, that guitar! Also curious if you added additional processing to that.

Only complaint is it seemed to end too soon, you could maybe try and extend that outro by a couple of bars.

Excellent song and performance, enjoyed very much!

Enjoyed this a lot. Like some of the others have noted, the lyrics projected nice imagery.

Bob, loved this work...nice abstract imagery in the lyric, and I think your decision about using a simple, calming folky-type of style is just right for the messaging.

I did find one thing quite curious… I noticed in your verse that you matched lines 3 and 4 in verse 1 with lines 3 and 4 of verse two. I’m talking about the rhyming scheme. Did you consider switching them around so that you would have “losses/courses” in the same verse, getting a more tight-knit rhyme? Just curious!

Enjoyed it very much!

Floyd,

Thanks very much.

For the guitar, I ran two identical tracks - one panned right with a consistent volume and the other set right in the middle with a lower volume, except in the break, where this track served as the lead guitar. I also widened the reverb on the guitars to give them additional space.

The vocal was cut right up against the microphone for the verses and pulled back slightly for the choruses - I wanted a very intimate sound. This approach helped to increase the overall attack. There are also some lightly tracked background vocals on the choruses.

Thanks again and glad you liked this one.

Bob,
Wonderfully cinematic lyrics - I love that kind of awestruck spiritual feel you bring to the chorus.
Really nice close vocal and no one does the spare BiaB arrangement better.
Beautiful!

Your song tracks always sound good but ... I think this has a sound all its own. Everyone talks about the acoustic guitar but the bass is what blew me away from the first note. Outstanding audio production!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
