Hi all Been trying to find a style for this great latin blues feel song by BB & Clapton from the album 'Riding with the King' You tube video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o96V9f1YnaIAny ideas please? I am struggling, BIAB seems a bit short of blues feels beyond the basic shuffles. Thanks Mark

Great song! In case you didn't know, it was originally on the classic B.B. King album "Live at the Regal". Robben Ford also did a fabulous version on his "Talk to your Daughter" album.
I just messed with it a bit here, I entered the chords and then used the style filters to search for "blues, 4/4, ev8, 105 bpm" and the first style that came up, "_POPBLUE", seems to have the right overall "feel".
Might be a good starting point? Then you would need to start auditioning realdrums to find one with a latin groove that works.
EDIT: Try and use the above style, but change the realdrums to be "Rumba^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Sidestick, Ride"

Hey Dave! Thanks for doing that. I am a bit of a BIAB newbie so wouldn’t have thought of selecting a pop style then tweaking the drums. Great idea, I will do it tomorrow and post back. Thanks for the suggestions on listening to the song. I haven’t heard the Robben Ford album but I do like his playing a lot. I have heard the original BB version on Regal. What an amazing album that is. I don’t usuall go for modern versions of songs, especially when EC puts his spin on them, but on this occasion I really liked the feel of the EC/BB version. Great to hear from a fellow blues man. There don’t seem to be too many of us around. Place is full of jazzers . Much as I like jazz, blues is my true love. Cheers Mark

Ha, the forums are not full of jazzers any more, it's full of country guys. This feel is blues version of latin boogaloo and I requested it several years ago because I do a lot of blues too in addition to everything else. One of the very cool things that many don't realize is the styles are really just suggestions. You can change every element of a style even mixing midi tracks with Real Tracks. If you haven't gotten into Real Band yet you should. RB has access to all the Biab styles but it has 48 tracks to play with. The problem with using Biab to audition a bunch of different style tracks is you usually never find exactly what you want but can get close. While you're searching for perfection you will have forgotten where you found one that was close and then spend an hour trying to go back to find it again. With RB you can just leave all the close tracks there for review later if you never find that perfect one. Also, don't forget searching for midi files on the net. You may find one with that drum feel and just plug it into RB as a midi drum track. You could find examples in audio format by searching YouTube too. Here's an example I just found by putting in "Latin Blues backing track": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooWlXYwyDMYSomething I just thought of is loops. Biab works well with them and you could find a basic RD drum track that's close to this and then add a conga loop to it. Finally, don't forget the Stylemaker which I've forgotten about too because just no time to get into it. Still, you can create your own style for this all the instructions are there. Bob
Biab/RB latest build, Win 11 Pro, Ryzen 5 5600 G, 512 Gig SSD, 16 Gigs Ram, Steinberg UR22 MkII, Roland Sonic Cell, Kurzweil PC3, Hammond SK1, Korg PA3XPro, Garritan JABB, Hypercanvas, Sampletank 3, more.

Hi Bob
Thanks for the great suggestions!
Unfortunately I am using a MAC (I post song suggestion type questions in Windows section as it has a lot more traffic and there isn't a 'Song Suggestions' section). so there is no Real Band. I didnt actually realise this to be honest. It seems a bit unfair but there it goes.
I may even buy myself a Windows laptop and transfer to the Windows version of BIAB etc. It seems to always be a number of steps/features ahead of the Mac version anyway.
Reading various posts here on the Forum it seems unlikely that the Mac version will ever be given equal footing to the Windows version, even though it is the same price! Having been a Mac user for many years I am used to such bias. Ho hum..
Thanks agin for the ideas. The idea of loops is very interesting. Something I wondered but have no idea how it might work.
For example, I am working on I heard it Through the Grapevine (CCR) and cant find anywhere a drum section that gets close to the 'jungle' style drums in the break section (where the main riff is played). It is such an important part of the song it really needs to be right. If I could find a loop that did the trick, or maybe even a midi file snippet, could I splice that in to the song somehow, whilst still keeping all the rest of the arrangement?
A bit of topic I know, maybe I should post a new question.
Cheers Mark

Hey Mark,
Did you try that style I suggested with the drum change to that rhumba realdrum set?
I liked it so much when I played with it here I wrote a new song using it, just waiting for my partner to finish up the vocals.
I switched out the bass too, put in an electric bass realtrack instead of that acoustic one.

Nice ES 175 you have there, Mark. I used to have an old blonde one- great guitar. Hey Bob Thanks for that. Yeah I got real lucky with this one. A friend was having a 'clear out' of some of his gear. Its a 73 ES 175 Thinline, not too many about. Plays like a dream and doesnt have the feedback issues of a full body 175. Still searching a 335 of similar vintage but not finding anything, cant bring myself to pay $5k for a modern custom shop re-issue thing. Cheers Mark

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
