Steve wrote a song idea for his daughter's wedding. Bart strummed some chords and came up with a melody. Stephanie played alone on her piano and sang some harmonies. Toby recorded them on two separate occasions, added some drums and bass, edited, arranged and enhanced it with FX and mixed it. Here it is.

Nice. Very pleasing melody and harmony. I can see this as a possible wedding standard.

A very nice wedding song. The vocal and harmony are quite nice.

The piano and guitar are well recorded, too.

The piano side of the recording is rather louder for the 1st few bars.
In the 1st phrases the female vocal is a little behind or out of synch - a little cut & slide would fix that easily.
It's a lovely idea well realized.

The guitar is Bart's $800 Taylor, I don't remember model number, plugged in with the guitar's EQ set flat. SonitusFX EQ with 1000 Htz pulled down and bass rolled off below 150 or so. And, Reacomp compressor Acoustic Guitar preset.
The piano is the midi from Stephanie's Yamaha MODX8 played back through Bitsonic's Keyboard Classic Steinway setting which I quantized to the 16th, removed a whole bunch of sustain pedal CCs, edited like crazy in Reaper, and I recreated the intro, outro and passages between lyrics. I spent a lot of time on the piano midi.

Okay, okay, you're right. Even though I've already settled payment for this one I'll keep at it, but just a little.
Thanks for the helpful criticism.
Maybe what I should do is post them for critique before I feel like I'm through with 'em. I'm just one guy in a doghouse doing this so getting more input would be helpful.

Well done Tobias, I found this very easy to listen and I dig the overall timbres. The piano really carries the piece nicely. The lyrics are very uplifting and rejoicing. Very suitable for a wedding. Thanks for sharing!

Swaying along with the warmth of this- very appropriate uplifting lyrics for the theme and nicely sung too.
From the description, the project sounds like a family affair, which is cool.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I really enjoyed doing my part on this one. I'm hoping to get more work from this writer. He is enthusiastic and fairly easy to work with. He seems to accept my artistic point of view on collaborating. At least on this song he did.
But, I might have to be the one who takes his basic poem style writing with vague melody ideas and turn them into actual songs. That's going to be a challenge for me. My friend Bart is much better at that part but is working on other projects himself.

Went to listen but when I arrived at the link, it said the song had been removed. I'll try again in a day or two. Seems like everyone enjoyed it - glad to hear that!z

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
