Hi everybody,

It has been several weeks since I have been able to post anything here, and I wanted to touch base to communicate, and bring you up to date.

About 6 weeks ago, I woke up one morning, and could not hear. I have had some hearing loss and tinnitus in my right ear for years, but always had very good hearing in my left ear. But this particular morning, I literally could not hear from either ear. I could hear noises, but everything sounded like it was in another room with the door closed. All music was distorted, and I could tell I was hearing human voices, but not clearly enough to understand, unless I was watching their mouth move while they are speaking loudly to me.

I went to my doctor, and he prescribed a steroid for me, and said if it didn't get better, to see my ENT specialist. Last week it started getting worse, so I went to my ENT. After a series of tests, I have been diagnosed with Bilateral Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (BSNHL) - a rare neurological condition which causes sudden and often permanent hearing loss. I am scheduled to have an MRI to rule out any brain tumors. I have a neurological condition called Charcot-Marie_Tooth, which is known to cause BSNHL, and I am sure that will be determined to be the culprit.

My doctors are taking an aggressive approach to try to bring life back to the affected nerves causing my hearing loss. I am on a very strong steroid treatment, and have further tests scheduled to determine if steroid injections in my ears may be an option. Hearing-wise, I have some days better than others. But it is very difficult for me to listen to music.

Please forgive the length of this post, but the last thing I want any of you to think is that I have simply disappeared from this forum due to lack of interest, or dedication to all my friends here. Music has been an extremely major part of my entire life, and PG Music has probably given me more musical satisfaction than just about anything else this side of Heaven. I so appreciate all of you here on this forum. Please keep writing from your hearts, and as soon as I can, I will be back here with a vengeance!

I am doing well. I am upbeat. I am hopeful, and more importantly, I have faith! I thank God for all He has done for me, and for all He is doing in me now. I do appreciate your prayers! You will be hearing more from me soon!

God bless,

Steve Young

Steve....

I'll sincerely hope the 'aggressive' steroid approach results in sorting it all out.

This getting old is not for the faint of heart.
Wishing you well.

Carry on....

Steve, I'm sorry you are having these problems. But you have the right attitude and a firm belief in God. You can be sure that you are in our prayers.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Steve, I am so saddened to hear this

you are an inspiration to me also

I agree with most all the comments here

your level of musicianship is so high

your writing, your voice, your mixes are always the highest quality

I've been having my own hearing issues for the past couple of years

so much so that the ENT people know me on a first name basis

I hope for the best for you, that you find healing and recovery

Kenny

Thank you so much, to all of you for your so kind and supportive words! Really means a lot to me. I so appreciate your prayers. I am staying in hope and faith that I will be back soon, and able to not only submit my songs, but give a good listen to all of your creativity.

In my opinion, PG Music is the best tool out there for anyone interested in making music. Their staff is always at the top of their game, always supportive, and eager to help. I'm sure this comes from the top. Dr. Gannon, thanks for starting this great company, and always keeping it on the path of excellence!

I have been working the last few days on a mix, without the use of my hearing. I am used to using meters when I mix, and know pretty much what sounds "look like". I do have extremely limited levels of hearing, very awkward and inadequate to really enjoy anything I am listening to. Everything is just undistinguishable, so I am working off of memory. I will try to post what I've done tomorrow, if I get the chance, so you can tell me how bad it is. smile

I am determined to work my way through this, while resting in the peace and knowledge that God will provide in this situation, as He always has blessed me with infinitely more that I could deserve, or hope for.

Thanks again for your support! You guys are the best!

Steve

So sorry to hear about your medical issues Steve. It is amazing how fragile we all are and we hardly ever think about that or appreciate the wonderful gifts we have. You are an extremely gifted musician and songwriter. I wish you a swift and complete recovery. Keep the faith. Take care. Greg

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
