I Hope Somebody Cries

This song is about having to deal with the PTSD induced social anxiety with which I deal every day. Always by myself, the fear of allowing people to get close to me... it can be tough sometimes.

WOW

This is one hell of a great song and it hit home. I did not serve but I lost a number of friends, including my high school best friend, in that war. Another musician friend that was in our band since 1967 to about 20 years ago got shot and came home with PTSD from that war: fortunately he is much better now, mainly thanks to his wife of many years. I have more stories but I'm sorry to digress, but this brought back those memories.

Eddie, IMHO this is the best song that you have ever done.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Man, I'd feel guilty as hell if I wrote anything bad about your song after reading that. sick

Except, of course, there's no need to worry about that, because Mario's right - This is one hell of a great song.

Your description on SoundCloud is 100% accurate. Not much else to say, other than kudos to you and Rog.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Eddie.
This is super. What a thing! I know a lot of men that I was at school with suffer from PTSD from the Rhodesian bush war in the 70s.

Eddie,

This is a really good song man!

Having worked with people that have had similar experiences to yours, I don't think most *ordinary* people understand what many people who have been in combat have seen and experienced, such as some of my friends in the special forces.

There is no way on God's green earth that the ordinary citizen could even begin to comprehend in the slightest way some of the experiences that come with heroism--or the collateral damage. The real stories go way beyond what I have ever seen on any movie screen for sure, and I have a hard time wrapping my mind around these true stories.

All of that to say, I am glad you are still with us and posting songs man.

Wouldn't ever want you to be gone.

Wow - what a tune. You can tell you really you bared your soul here. There is some really haunting imagery here. It is beautifully sincere, and some of the lyrics are touching and all too relatable.

You should be really proud of this one. You captured the mood and feeling perfectly. You outdid yourself here - thanks for sharing smile

Amazing that you would say that. In my email to Rog when I sent the files over for mastering I used the phrase "I am going for a Johnny Cash kind of thing here." And the "sepia tone" feel for this was indeed inspired by that man in black's music.

And I guess I got the feel. Rog is able to take my sometimes badly worded thoughts and convert them into what I am hearing in my head. Sometimes it takes a few back and forths but eventually he gets the final result I am hearing. As all of you who write understand, there is often a sound in your head but you can't say what it is. It is like trying to describe "red" to someone who has never been able to see. I am so grateful that he is available because he manages to do things I try (badly) to do with my songs. But he is also a decent writer himself, so he understands that frustration level of what I mean when I say something opaque, like "I want the guitar to be angry on this one". He has to be able to determine what I mean by "angry" as it applies to the sound of a guitar, and he usually gets it right.

Very powerful song!! An excellent write about a painful subject. I've treated patients (I'm a physical therapist) with PTSD and I have witnessed the emotional roller coaster. It's so sad and difficult. Fantastic job of sharing the experience with the listener. Take care. Greg

Clearly a very emotional piece and must be a painful subject to make a song to.

When Eddie sent me the tracks through, I knew I was going to enjoy
mixing this one. The Johnny Cash reference gave me everything I needed to
know about what he wanted. All good source material and an excellent vocal
made the mixing and mastering fairly straight forward.

At first, Eddie was reluctant to post this, thinking it might be just too
personal, but I persuaded him that it was too good a song not get an airing.

It's a difficult subject to work into a song, but I think Eddie did a
proper job on this one.

Very emotional and heart-felt story sir, love it! I totally see the Man in Black vibe on it and the way you sang it out.

ROG did a good number on this as usual, I really enjoy your collabs!

Thanks for sharing this one with us all!

I very moving song indeed Eddie, all the better for being totally honest and heartfelt. I was engaged from start to finish. Thanks for bringing such a personal piece for your friends here to listen to. As others have mentioned, I can see this as a very commercial song. But the main thing is that you've made a precious and special piece of music here. Good work Roger in helping bring this into being.

John

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
