Clicked on the mixer...great. Now for the effects sends. Does PT come with any reverb? Please say yes...please.. Please tell me I don't have to buy effects for this.

they should have loaded with the program
pgplugins executable installs them

I just realized, if you are trying to use the dials in the mixer for reverb, that just controls the reverb for midi, not audio

Audio tracks use the reverb plugin available in the DX FX dropdown areas..

For an audio track you can either -
A. Click the little triangle to the left of the track name, then 'edit DX FX'
a dropdown appears with five slots, the top slot selects the track, the next four slots allow loading effects for that track

or

B. Go to mixer and select an AUX section, use the same method to load the effect in a slot, and then use the Aux send dial for that track on the mixer to send the signal to the effect.

B. is preferred here for reverb. That way you can send multiple tracks to one reverb unit (saving resources).
You will want to turn up the 'wet' signal when doing it this way, as the dry from the track still plays and is mixed in with the Aux at the final output...

OK. Thank you for the info. Nothing loads in the drop down. The realplayeraudio thing crashes PT if i load that.....the WMPLUG---Sorry no connection comes up....the VST line sends me to the bb folder which I do not know what to look for there. Right now there are no plug ins on the drop down.

You need to run the plugin installer then
PGPlugins should be listed, and should have been installed during installation

Powertracks includes reverb, chorus, a couple EQ's, PeakLimiter, etc. ...

Inside PT folder should be a pgplugins exe file

can't help you much beyond that unless you want to download some other free plugins at KVR or something

I will keep looking for them.

Can you help me make sure that the effects loop is headed for the verb instead of an audio fader. I see that the curser on the knob shows either verb or an aux send. how do you swap between the two so I can make sure that I am not on the aux send out. Right now aux 1 is a master vol.

Interesting..before you record on a track, if you look at the mixer, the verb, chor, mod, ext are on the channel strip. When you record on the track, they change to sends...how can I get them back to the effects?

I tried to explain earlier (above)

Reverb and Chorus dials show up on the MIDI channels. Once a channel becomes audio they change to AUX sends.

That is good! You set one reverb up in the AUX slot (top right of mixer - click the FX button)
Then you send as many audio tracks to it as you want (and in varying amounts) using the send dial for each track to the desired AUX effects.

The reverb and chorus dials generate MIDI data for MIDI tracks - they tell a synth what to play and how to sound. They are on MIDI tracks only. Not Audio tracks -They are two different things.

Audio is sound
MIDI is just data to send to a device like a synth.

In that dropdown window where you saw the other plugins (that wouldn't load) you didn't see PGReverb? or PGPeakLimit?

Found it!!! Thanks so much for your help. Found the effects and loaded them. Found the pull down menu when you assign to the four sends. Thanks so much.

May I ask you how you go about trying out new plugins I find out on the net.

At the bottom of that dropdown slot (where you load existing effects) you'll see 'Add VST' or something similar..

Use that to navigate to wherever the new plugin is loaded. Usually looking for the dll file for that effect ..

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
