'It Might Get Loud', starring Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White, might just get BORING. Interesting for guitar freaks who are into electronics and foot pedals with overdrive, distortion and reverb at MAX but that is just what it is: Overdrive, Distortion and Reverb at MAX. For each of these 3 e-freaks, I could give you 100 great guitarists or more who DON'T o/d on pedals etc. Once is interesting. Twice? No, I wouldn't want to see it again

IMDB listing

Trailer

As Jack White says, "Who said you need to buy a guitar?"

Thank God they ended with an acoustic jam session. Otherwise, the average unmusical viewer might not have realised that they were guitarists. Electronics has gone too far. Thanks, Jimmy

This trio may be legendary electronic guitarists but I actually LIKE the sound of the guitar, unplugged. So, please leave me to my simple folk / country / rockabilly roots (like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Dylan etc)

I've just turned 50. Am I getting old??

Thanks, Richard! NOT

It might be worth bearing in mind that most of the audience (a mere dozen or so in a theatre that could seat 250+) were of the 'avant-garde, beatnik, hippie' type - and about all of them under 30, possibly even under 25. All of them eagerly eyeing up who else was in the audience who they might know or be able to impress...

As my best friend here (an educated man with over 30 years of pro/am music experience under his belt) has labelled his 'farewell to Vienna' gig on this coming Friday, "Vienna, you're gonna miss me when I'm gone but you couldn't even be bothered to ignore me while I was here" He's 53 and heading back to London to busk his own songs and try his hand at stand-up comedy. Go figure!

Sam,
If that is an indication of turning 'old', I was 'old' in my teens!

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

I would go see it if it played here.

I learned how to play guitar by copying the Edge's simple stuff on 'I Will Follow'. Playing guitar ever since. His style has inspired countless others. The 'Modern' worship sound of today owes about 90 percent of it's vibe to copy-catting the delayed arpeggios that the Edge popularized. The other 10 percent is the 8th note bang-bang-bang that Coldplay popularized.

I tend to like it.

Then again, there isn't much guitar sound I don't like. Black/Death Metal the rare exception. Melodic Metal; I love that stuff, and Chet, and Jimmy and Jimi, and Randy, and Tommy, Leo, B.B., John, Django, Johnny, Maybelle, Emmylou, Prince, etc.

I really wish the movie played here - even if I was the only person in the audience.

I would like to see that as a loud and noisy guitarist at heart.
AT least the guys can play unlike the people today who use samples in their music and call themselves compsers/musicians, with Autotune/Melodyne in their musical arsenal, for effect not slight adjustments.
Incidentally listening to "a whole lotta love" on the radio as I type, love the "backwards echo" as I call it.....

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
