First song in a while ... been so busy and also (because of that) bereft of inspiration for a long time. But ... let's see how this one goes? Thanks so much for listening - all feedback, it goes without saying, is very welcome.

My browser is giving me grief, so I'm going to post the link "as is". Sorry, but here goes: https://audiomack.com/song/jamesdelsono/tell-her-i-love-her

Style is _PJONPB2.STY (Country Piano Ballad w/ Pedal St) [there's no Pedal Steel in this one, though, I muted it!]

RealTracks in style: ~701:Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesSync Ev 085
RealTracks in style: 1728:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopBalladJohn Ev 085
RealTracks in style: ~362:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085
RealTracks in style: ~363:Pedal Steel, Background Ev 085
RealDrums [in style:NashvilleEven8^2-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, HiHat

TELL HER I LOVE HER

The night is dark, and I am far from home
I may not make it back all on my own,
So, if you hear this, please kindly pass it on
To the one person for whom I write this song.

Tell her I love her; please tell her not to cry
If it should happen I'm not back tonight
Tell her I'm glad that I could call her mine
From when we met, right to the present time.

***

This cruel world may have the best of me;
I thought it slight; it's strong, in fact, you see.
But here I am, ready at last to call
Time on this fierce-fought battle for my soul.

Tell her I love her; please tell her not to cry
If it should happen I'm not back tonight
Tell her I'm glad that I could call her mine
From when we met, right to the present time.

Tell her I love her; please tell her not to cry
If it should happen that tonight I die;
But, if I live, ask her to be my wife
And I will love her for the rest of my life.

Nice work on this one James smile I like how gentle and calming it is to listen to. It has a lot of sincerity behind it, and I enjoyed the instrumentation a lot. It works great with your vocals.

Thanks for sharing!

Like Deryk said there is a lot of sincerity in this.

The choice of style is perfect for the spoken word and the lyrc.

Well done!

Thanks everyone. It, as I said above, was my first song in a while - so I was kinda worried about "letting it go", as it were. So I'm so happy that you enjoyed it - thank you.

Musician17,

It’s a nice instrumental track on this, musically very smooth . . and the spoken word works well with it (though I think you’d want to have the vocal sit back a little bit). Worth putting in the time to refine this further.

Kindest regards,

Deej

Agreed about the vocal needing to sit back. I think I'll use a different mic from now on, etc., in any case - so hopefully that will be a helping factor, too. Thanks for taking the time to listen, Deej.

Ah, a classic tearjerker.

Spoken word with music isn't really my cup of tea, but it worked fine.

Glad to hear another of your songs! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi James,

I'm not quite sure what to say. Your song has finished playing and I'm sitting here with a bit of a tear my eye. Your presentation is quite a journey. You transported me to a battlefield and the lull between confrontations. As I was listening to you speak, in my mind, I could see a soldier, tired and totally worn out. He was writing a letter to the one he loves most on earth.

Your lyrics captured this moment really well for me.

The only other song that has done this to me is Galveston (written by Jimmy Webb and made famous by Glenn Campbell). This is also about separation due to war and the uncertainty this brings.

A fine effort!

All the best,
Noel

Oh my word, Noel. I don't think I've ever gotten such a reaction to any of my songs! Thank you. You know, that was exactly the imagery I was going for - an exhausted soldier, writing to his best friend about the one he loves most. I'm so, so happy this came through as intended, and even happier at receiving such a beautiful, genuine reaction.

I haven't had a chance yet to listen to Galveston, but I will do so without a shadow of a doubt :-) Thanks so much once more!!!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
