Hi forum friends. Decided to post my stab at a humorous Christmas song. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at singing or mixing those Bob Seger type rockers. Hope you enjoy the tune anyway! Take care all. Greg

https://soundcloud.com/gjohnson-2/rudolfs-butt-2

Rudolf's Butt

I got a shelf full of trohies for champion of the reindeer games
I got a sterling reputation, no need for droppin names
But Dasher is my uncle on my mother's side
And Blitzen is my dad
I got as good a pedigree as a reindeer ever had

I've made the cut every Christmas eve since I was five years old
I can hang at any altitude, never squawk about the cold
You could ask what this has gotten me, what is my reward?
Well, Lemme just tell you what
One long-[*****] flight just starin' at Rudolf's butt

The old man got so paranoid one foggy Christmas eve
Ever since that night the whole trip blows
Rudolf's rise to stardom's almost too much to believe
Hero status, for that lame, defective nose

I used to love to see the stars laid out, and gaze upon those Northern Lights
But the trip is now less glamorous with less dramatic sights
It somehow takes the magic from the whole affair
The thrill of speedin' 'long through space
To see that reindeer's backside near the front side of my face

I told the old man get some flashlights, we can strap them on to the sleigh
Give us all the light were ever gonna need to find our way
We can dump that loser reindeer who barely learned to fly
We'll have everything we need
Lose the dead weight and get this outfit up to speed

But it seems that Santa's took a shine to Rudolf's shiny nose
So I guess I will remain stuck in this rut
For the sake of boys and girls who's toys depend on us
Guess I will get use
To takin' this abuse
Get beyond the point of carin'
That I'll be spendin' my life starin'
At Rudolf's butt

What a humorous unique Christmas song...
You did an excellent job on this one...
How many times did you have to edit the vocals...
To remove you giggles smile?

Man...
You've got a powerful pleasing voice...
I really enjoyed the listen!

Very funny song, Greg! Sounds like Brian Wilson wrote a very comical Christmas song. (And I mean that as a big compliment!)

Great job!

That's a classic old melody with a classic arrangement and a funny narrative - well done.

Greg,
Some great lines there; I could visualise an SNL type skit to go with the laughs.
Don`t want to think about the punchline too long!

This is the most original idea for a Christmas song. It's about time something revealed the truth behind all this Rudolf propaganda.

Greg,

The lyrics are outstanding—really clever lines from start to finish. From a production perspective, to me it reels the song is moving a bit too slow given it's vibe . . . I'd consider upping tempo, which I also think would push you to give the vocal (which is solid as is) a bit more edge and grittiness, which, again to me, seems more fitting given the singer’s perspective. Just a thought to take with a huge grain of salt . . . or coal (given the season)?

Hope all is well with you,

Deej

That's a mighty fine write. Clever doesn't even say half enough.

And, as always, your golden voice sounds excellent.

Fun listen! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

You have really found a new angle on Christmas songs laugh Although an angle I don't want to be positioned at wink funny song about justified grudge, although I would like to hear Santa's point of view also smile Anyway, good light rocking tune mixed and sung well.

That!!!

Hey is "So I guess I will remain stuck in this rut" a pun? Us folks who live in a forest (we do not hunt) certainly understand the deer rut season smile

You never cease to amaze Greg and this is no exception.

BIG time fun and as always the production (all aspects) is flawless.

Thanks the levity!!!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
