Hi All,

A bizarre accident with our intruder alarm in September, which
resulted in me getting damaged eardrums, has kept me away from
music and the forum for the past four months. Fortunately, there
was no permanent damage - it just took time to heal - and I can now
hear 12k again, which is apparently good for my advancing years.
So, trying to hit the ground running in 2020, here's the sequel to The
Slide, which if you missed it you can find HERE.

The horn section, the sax solo and the piano are all realtracks, whilst
the guitars and bass are down to me. The drums, as before, are our own
samples programmed up in MIDI.

It's good to be back and all the best to everyone for 2020.

LET'S SLIDE AGAIN
We had a lot of fun in the summer of ninty-five
Moving to the rhythm of a dance that was called The Slide
Well it seems so long since we had that thrill
But maybe like me, you remember it still
Come on with me, baby let's slide again

There's never been a dance that I cared so much about
There's never been a dance that could start to wear your socks out
So if like me you remember it all
Take off your shoes, get down off the wall
One more time, baby let's slide again

All you need is a little soul (sole?)
To slide around to the rock and roll
To the saxophone

Every now and then I get a feeling that I just can't hide
Thinking of the times that we danced all night to The Slide
It's been a long time, but I know since then
If I've had more fun I can't remember when
So one more time, baby let's slide again

So, complements of the season to everyone and many thanks to all who
have time to listen. Cheers,
ROG.

Like the song that spawned it, a fun song.

The "sliding" harmonies have some phasing/dissonance in the vocals that's... interesting. smile

Ouch! wink

Glad to hear the hearing damage wasn't permanent.

Looking forward to hearing more in 2020! (See what I did there?)

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Rog,

I took the time to listen and I'm very glad I did. Very cool sound, very thoughtful choice of RealTracks, , superbly sung and played.

There's still something I'm missing: a link to a Slide tutorial. Or at least some footage of those ancient times...

Have a great 2020 full of memories and music,

Cheers,

Stefan

Good to see you sliding back into the forum...
With The Slide...
Sorry...
I couldn't resist the temptation smile

I'm happy your ear damage was not permanent...
And here's hoping you have a Happy New Year!

The S in was on line two jumps way loud - you can automate that back into control.
I enjoy the Wizzard/Glam aspect of this a lot - Roy Wood would think it good.
What's next - West Slide Story?

Cheers

Hi David.
Glad you found the sliding harmonies "interesting"!
I like to experiment and that was probably a product of tracking-up four times and
then adding extra processing through the Eventide Ultra Harmoniser plugin.
Some you win and some.....

Janice immediately said, "that's a good getcha going in morning song!" smile

Nobody rocks like you. As always everything in the production is hittin' the note.

Great vocals...and Janice said, "they are slidin' too." Heck, it's all great with
the cool harmonies, guitar/bass performances and the rest of the "band."
The drums are standout...love that snare.

Welcome back and what wonderful drivin' re-entry!

Love it...

J&B

PS: We are glad your hearing survived that. I (Bud) have
tinnitus and a high f loss from loud noises so you are
very lucky that it dissipated.

ROG,

Rockin'!!!

The doubled vocal works really well. I hear it from each side and it sums as a whole.

Nice job with the sax RT. Sounds custom made for the track. The piano sits perfectly. Cool guitars - as always.

Nice!

Sorry to hear about the hearing. Glad it's returning. Wishing you a FULL recovery!!

Hey thanks J&B - I'm always pleased to get a review from you two.
Glad you liked this one - I felt like being frivolous again after the hearing problems.
I've got my high frequencies back, but I still have some distortion on low frequency if
it gets above a certain volume. I'm told that this could take over six months in total before
it clears completely. Still, it could have been a lot worse, for which I'm grateful.
Anyway, it's good to be back!
Cheers,
ROG.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
