Ever and Ever Again

Since my work has closed for the lockdown and my last uni assignment has just been cancelled (thankfully I should still get a good grade!) I've been spending quite a bit of time writing, recording and mixing. This one is a bit different from the other songs I've done, taking a bit of inspiration from both indie and rock music but still being a pop song at heart.

All of the tracks were created in BIAB or RealBand. All except the guitar and drum tracks were taken into the DAW as midi files and I've finally had a chance to use the Lethal plugin which I have on rent to own at the minute. Trying to decide whether to keep this or get Serum on rent to own instead, I quite like how this doesn't use too much memory and I've heard Serum is very, very memory intensive.

I also tried out Waves Renessance Reverb rather than True Verb on this as they both come with the bundle I have from them, but I think I prefer the room modelling that TrueVerb does. On the vocals I used the Stereo Tapped Delay exciter and in choruses as well as some of the louder lines in the verses I layered the vocal with a duplicate vocal with doubler and MetaFlanger to add a bit of punch and even more distorted feel to it.

I also added a bit of volume automation to make it a bit louder and also to bring the levels of the music and drums/bass/vocals closer together in the chorus. I wanted the choruses to feel a lot bigger than the rest of the song.

Any feedback on this would be really welcomed!

BIAB RealTracks used
RT1850: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopShiningGrittyMuted Ev 120 , Darin Favorite
RD: RockHardModernev8ths, Wayne Killius

BIAB Midi tracks:
RT2277: Synth, Rhythm DiscoElPianoLow Ev 120 , Ed (Great Oz) Clare - took this from the DAW plugin as midi instead as RT
Bass, Pop8thsSteady Ev120
Piano, Rhythm 80sBubblegumPop Ev 140

Lyrics:
When you came into my life
I didn't know what to say
Cause all the ones I'd loved before
Packed up and walked away
But you weren't like all the rest
So I thought you might be mine

Could you be the one I love
Till the end of time

This time I want love forever
Ever and ever again
Cause now I know that love should never
Fill me with so much pain

And when my heart was broken inside
Nothing could bring me back
Except for the one I love forever
Ever and ever, ever and ever again

Ever and ever again , Oh

Now that I know what love should be
I never wanna go for
Those one night stands or part time loves
That leave me crying on the floor
But how could I know if you feel the same
Cause you never give me a sign

Could you be the one I love
Till the end of time

This time I want love froever
Ever and ever again
Cause now I know that love should never
Fill me with so much pain

And when my heart was broken inside
Nothing could bring me back
Except for the one I love forever
Ever and ever, ever and ever again
Ever and ever again, ever and ever again

Could you be the one who always always keeps me sane
And could you be the one who shields me from the pain

This time I want love forever
Ever and ever again
Cause now I know that love should never
Fill me with so much pain

And when my heart was broken inside
Nothing could bring me back
Except for the one I love forever
Ever and ever, ever and ever again
Ever and ever again, ever and ever again
Ever and ever again

Hi Richard,

It's good to come across one of your songs again. (I've probably missed a few because I haven't travelled through Users Showcase for a while.)

What I love about your work is that you take me to BIAB-places that I never venture. By comparison to you, I'm just a predictable user of BIAB. I find what you do really inspiring. This song is no exception.

Thank you for sharing.

All the best,
Noel

Thank you for listening and commenting.

Noel96 I've only just started posting songs again as work and uni really got in the way since around September last year. So at the moment I'm getting as many ideas as possible out until everything starts back up again and time is a bit more limited again! I really like what you do with the software so it's great to hear positive words about the way I work with it.

Al-David I'm glad you enjoyed listening to this song and finding the time to do this is one of the only positive things about everything going on in the world. I've spend the last 10 years of my life rushing around with work, kids and getting back into education - so I had to find something to keep me busy otherwise I'd have gone crazy! I've just got the news that we're not going back to work for at least another 3 weeks today so I'm going to use that time keep putting songs together.

ScottC thanks for the positive feedback and I'm glad you liked it.

Hope you're all staying safe and I look forward to hopefully hearing some more songs from you guys on here as well!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
