Hi Folks,
I hope you coping well with all the recent events (as much as it is possible). I thought that "stay home" philosophy would free up some time for music... boy was I wrong... I feel bad by not participating in the forum lately, and not responding to some wonderful material that has been posted past weeks. I do listen to tunes in Showcase occasionally while working. I finished this tune couple of weeks ago and was hoping that a friend would sing parts of it, but unfortunately current situation does not leave her time for this. So posting as originally mixed. Constructive critique, especially, "less than positive" one is always welcomed. Thank you for listening!
Misha.

Wordless

Race against ticking clock, Toss away your pride
All that money - honey, Will be no good on the other side
And you can lay as a lifeless rock
Or you can help win this fight

And we can blame the wordless beasts,
sprinkle golden dust...
But I am sure if the beasts could pray,
they would pray for us

Broken plans and hearts,
broken days and nights
All those speeches - peaches
Will be no good on the other side
And you can lay as a lifeless rock
Or you can help win this fight

And we can blame the wordless beasts,
Multiplying mistrust
but I am sure if the beasts could pray,
Thy would pray for us.

We keep on on blaming wordless beasts,
Drowning in lies.
But creatures looking at the sun through their cages,
asking question -why?

Tech stuff.

Misha,

Little to be "less than positive" about.

The opening grabs your attention. It is infectious. The vocal sounds great - nicely processed - alive!. Cool guitar riffs/chunks. Nice snappy drum.
At the change at :47 the vocal seems to "get lost" for a bit - slightly "buried". It might be the lower harmony vocal causing that impression.
The vocal effect at 1:09 is cool.
Very cool ending.

The overall mix is good.

"Race against ticking clock, Toss away your pride
All that money - honey, Will be no good on the other side"

Nice opening to a song that remains interesting throughout.

I enjoyed this (as I do all of your music).

Liked it, liked the vocal effect and the conceit of praying (preying?) beasts. Scatting was cool, helped with your usual dark gravitas.

Excellent tune Misha. Cool mix on the drums. Loved the pop from the snare. Some cool vocal effects as well. Well done

Misha,
Its hard to imagine anyone else singing this better - you have me feeling for those "wordless beasts".
I like the arrangement, including the surprise ending and especially like the badabaa`s and the different vocal processing you used in places.
I`m listening on headphones and found the drums a little too loud (or maybe its the eq )in relation to the bass & overall mix.
Cool song!

Robert

Hello Misha, you were away for some time. I feared the virus found you. In New York nearly everyone has it by now. But you were only busy painting and helping a friend I presume ;-)

Your song is a genuine Misha-song, only more expressive. As I wrote on your Soundcloud page: peculiar but captivating! And those are just mild words. Your voice is so clear and (seemed) filled with joy singing this song. It was a pleasure listening to.
I couldn't say it better than Robbert did, except for the drums. They weren't too loud for me, only a bit too flat. A little reverb had given it more expression. But I like loud drums.

Hope you participate more, now that you're still quarantined.

Nice day,
Hans

FJ,
Thank you for listening and your detailed feedback! I spiked the vocals a bit in the spot you mentioned and lowered overall drums. Should be more clear.
---
TuneMonger,
Thank you for listening and supportive comments! *praying smile
---
Robert, thank you for kind words! I think I got a little carried away with vocal processing, just trying out different things. Special thanks on drums note. I lowered them. You are right, they are a bit too loud.
---
Ember,
Thank you for listening!
---
Hans,
Thankfully, I was able to avoid catching it so far... And I intend to
avoid it as long as it takes, too much to lose. My painting gig is over smile Thank you for your support, and drums note! As per your advice, I added some reverb.

Misha,
I apologise for not listening & commenting sooner...I'm suffering fatigue brought about by Current Circumstances songs so have been skirting things until I've divined their meaning & context.
Musically this is ALMOST straight forward for you.
There's plenty of space in the arrangement for air, breathing and your good lady's voice.
Interesting and, typically, semi cryptic lyrics with a leaning to our place in nature.
Your "scatting" is always excellent - no need for a solo instrumental part with your melodic sense & vocal chords fitting the bill.
Thanks for lifting my mood.

Cheers

Misha, another masterpiece from you. Very clever lyrics. I too really was taken with the opening verse.

Musically, this is so well wrapped in a perfect set of chord progressions. The choice of Organ in the backing is absolutely ideal.

Misha, your music always shows such imagination! Very, very good.

Vocal is just perfect for the song, I couldn't imagine anyone else singing it. And yeah, those scats that you do ... great!

Mix sounds good to me too.

Nice profile picture BTW, good to see the face behind the music.

Best to you and yours!

It's not often that the intro grabs such attention, but I loved this song from the first measure. Man, that B3 really grabs me. Love your scatting, Misha. This is superb. Stay well, man.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Dave,
Thank you!! Ohh, my friend would easily sing this better. I hope that when this little paranoia is over, she will record some vocals for me.
P.S. My cat is nicer (and definitely has better attitude) than the bold guy in avatar.

Marty,
Thank you for listening and words of support. I agree, I got lucky on the organ, fits well smile

Misha,

First, I think a lot of been busy in our having more time! lol No worries there.

Now, the song is fantastic. It held my attention the entire time. That's not easy to do. You had plenty of things going on to keep my not only interested, but immersed. Cool effect and all.

Thanks so much for sharing it! It's always fun to listen to something so original!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
