Just Having Fun

Just me having some fun. I hope everyone is healthy, safe, and felling all right!

BiaB style - #jcocker
I just purchased this from Norton Music and as soon as I heard it I had to jam along with it.

I kept the Drums (verbatim), Piano (slightly modified) and the B3 Organ (again slightly modified).

I am playing the fretless bass, rhythm and lead guitars, the flute via my wind controller and the B3 organ lead via my keyboard controller.

Cool snappy tune!

All the parts work nicely.

I'm a sucker for a good B3.
Pairing that with the flute is rather refreshing.

Feeling alright indeed!

Love your guitar on this, Mario, very fluid. Also love the flute and bass!

The drums are midi? What did you use to process them?

Sounds great, fun jam.

Hi Mario,

You always start your post anouncing your new songs with 'Just me having some fun'.
Fun is of course what you need to make music, but also skills (and BiaB) and that you have too!
Very nice song you made, with an 'adventurous' B3 solo. Great stuff, Mario!
Try some singing as well (?)

Man, I LOVE your style, Mario. You can play with Joe Cocker or anybody else, and make them sound better. Like Hans says, you put FUN foremost in everything. When all this is over I might have to take a trip to Lake Ontario just for the vibe. Take care!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Mario,

Super.

Your flute on this is really nice. Bass sounds really good - punchy and clear and still "bass-y". Good guitar work... Good B3, too...

Excellent listen.

I'm a big B3 fan also. In fact for a few years I played in a B3, guitar, drum trio.

Thanx for listening and commenting.

Thanx Dave for these very nice comments.

Yes those are MIDI drums. I separated the drums into individual drum tracks in my DAW Studio One Pro. I used Steven Slate's SSD5 drum preset 60's kit for the kit and Kontakt's Brio Ensemble for the percussion. I set up 4 drum FX buses, added Wave's CLA Drum plug-in and optimized each bus for either kick drum, snare drum, cymbals and toms. This took some time but I liked the end results.

The first thing we noted on our monitors was the outstanding mix.

Great soundstage with an open live feel and all the tracks finding
their respective "places."

We are out of accolades for your multi instrument talents...so spin
the high praise wheel and choose a few smile

We love the groove and the way it supports the flute and guitar.

Nice! Just having fun listening...

Thanx so much Marty but I don't think that I could make Joe sound any better but I would love to have jammed with Leon!

If you make a trip to Lake Ontario be sure to stay a day or two in either Brockport or Greece NY so we can have some time to jam together.

Thanx Floyd for this wonderful review. I used my new Wave's Bass Rider on the bass and it did make a difference. I'm glad you noticed that.

Thanx for listening and commenting. I did spend a couple of days trying to get a good mix. It sounds like I accomplished that task, at least for this song.

This Am7 and/or Am6 to D9 groove is my favorite groove.

Fun indeed. This is the essence of jam distilled by one set of capable hands and ears. This had to be a joy to mix/produce. I had a great time listening.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
