A visit back to the forum after a long time away..hope this is a worthy re-entry..Thanks in advance for listening.

The End

===================================
We trust there's a way for us,
To know how to grow, we pray.
Can't wait on fate to plan
What we can't understand
So we're underway.

We know that the road we're on
Will run in the sun and snow;
And so let's vow to bear
All the hurdles out there
Everywhere we go.

All through the night
Until daybreak;
Stay awake
And trek
In search of sunlight!

We tried to have eyes of hope
And cope without asking why.
To fly by inner stars
And to follow guitars
Playing lullabies.

We flew pretty straight right through
And guessed that our quest was true.
Not once did comprehend
What the way might intend
That the end was You.

Tano,
This might sound a bit nuts, but I was just thinking about your music couple of days ago.
Excellent re-entry tune! I like your music and find it very special. Please do not leave us for too long. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S> 1:36 break was fun smile

Hi Tano ...

Really nice! I love the selection of backing tracks you chose - a somewhat eclectic but nice mix. To me this has somewhat of a European sound to it. I lived in Europe almost 12 years and can remember many songs similar to this, particularly in France ... but not necessarily as nice as this one.

If I may, two things that crossed my mind for your consideration:

1. The vocal could use a little effect. not too much but possibly a touch of reverb or some modest echo/delay. I think it would add a little more depth to it. You have a very nice voice with great vocal tone. But I think a bit of vox effects would make it even more dynamic.

2. The violin break from 1:23 through 1:30 could be a but louder. I think it's placement in the soundscape (too distant) renders a loss of energy in those few seconds of the song.

Just my thoughts, for what they are worth. I did enjoy this a lot. It was a really nice listen. Had a nice, gently sway to it.

Welcome back! Please be safe ...

Alan

Hadn't heard any of your previous tracks but I must admit that I don't get the chance to visit the site that often myself.
I enjoyed your song and I thought that the reflective flavour of the lyrics and your understated vocal delivery helped to carry it off beautifully.
I also listened to your song 'Yoke Up' and I really liked that too.

The End as a new beginning here- welcome back!
I like the light playful percussion and jazzy melody applied to meaningful lyrics:
Lots of good rhyming lines:

To fly by inner stars
And to follow guitars
Playing lullabies.

Sweet!
You have a distinctive and eclectic style that`s most enjoyable.
(I agree a little change in vocal processing would improve this).

Robert

I always like being surprised by songs and you sure did deliver on that in this one. You've got a very nice blend of instruments and sounds in there. The way to take twists and turns but keep the melody on track is pretty neat.

It would be unfair to compare this to Miles Davis music, but there is something that I see in common. To paraphrase, Miles said "always play the unexpected notes," and that's what you've got going here.

It's fresh, inviting and interesting. I'll always go for interesting and daring over boring.

The vocal has an odd halo around it...probably the room you recorded in - or some proximity effect.
The actual vocal is well done but needs to sit in the mix rather than sounding like it was placed on top.
Did you use the reverbs automatically applied to the individual tracks in BIAB? it may be a mismatch between that and you voice treatment that make the distance/difference.
Apart from that - nice song, nicely done.

Cheers

BTW, back story...the song is about adoption..the 'voice' is a couple who haven't been able to have children, confidently plowing ahead in the hopes that someday their persistence be rewarded with that child they want to love.

Rhythmically well done, busy, but not too busy, however, the vocals might sit a little too much in front?

Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable production in many, many ways.

Cool vocal, backing and a gentle thought provoking lyric made
for a great listen.

We particularly liked:

"We tried to have eyes of hope
And cope without asking why.
To fly by inner stars
And to follow guitars
Playing lullabies"

Yes, positive! That.

Glad to see you back around!

I love this song! Nice, original melody. Solid lyrics. Horn placement was a little weird but can be fixed.

Production-wise, the vocal sits badly outside of things. It needs a lot of work. I have struggled with this myself so I understand. There's a lot of youtube videos on how to get the vocal to sit right. It's a chore to get there, but your music is worth it. Hope I'm not seen as being too critical, I'd just love to hear your song as it should be.

I like the instrumentation--it's a "good" different than the usual.

Effective double tracking...sound authentic and not electronic.

Enjoyable and uplifting.

Nice "comeback " tune Tano! Very interesting jazzy tune with a great message! Lots of clever little bits in here! I have been absent myself more than I have cared to be lately, but I speak for a lot of people when I say it's good to see you back around here! Thanks, Torrey

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
