I just ordered this software from p.G. music. Haven t gotten it yet. I'm just wondering if anyone is using it and how you like it. By the description it seems to be really cool software

Hey Jeff,

I do music software tutoring over the internet using Skype and Teamviewer. I have a client who just got it with my recommendation. I use Sonar 7.

The first thing I asked him was "What do you want to do?" and finding out that he wanted to do everything from Cassette tape restoration to recording audio to go with BIAB tracks, but not huge projects.

We installed it with no problems, I have been using it with him and we haven't had any issues. No crashes, Audio sounds good, it's simple to use, It does have the TTS-1 softsynth for use with BIAB.

I actually like it better than Sonar. The fact that it's $35 is a no-brainer. You made a good choice!

Let us know what you think, PM me if you have any problems.

Ed

I did some messing around with it....the softsynths sound great. I must confess I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the new paradigm.. Im used to ptw where there are basically two kinds of tracks: audio and midi ...Once I get the hang of setting up tracks and just learning all of the signal flow I'll be in good shape. would you happen to know where there is a video or tutorial explaining the routing options in mc5? The owners manual is extremely basic and doesn't really cover everything .....Thanks in advance:)........Jeff

Jeffgee, google Cakewalk music maker 5 video and you will find that Cakewalk has 4 instructional videos on you tube.

Good luck.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

I might buy it just because the TTS-1 is included and could use it as VST for BB.
I tried Sonar Producer and frankly it was too mind-bogging for me, even exporting a midi track as audio, required a ridicolous amount of work.

Still, for the price Music Maker 5 seems very well specified... I don't think it's a bad buy. I am using an old version of Cubase LE, probably not even as well specified as MM5

Ive used it for a week or two now and the vsts are GREAT....Sound is just wonderful. I think its great that pg music is selling it too because its got some tools that ptw doesnt have and vice versa... it loads fast just like ptw and bouncing tracks back and forth is no problem. I had cubase le for a while to be honest I could never get with it. perhaps Im not so technical. One of the reasons I'm really into pg stuff there are all of these great people on the forum to answer questions...Mc5 is pretty straight forward too....Have a great one.......Jeff

Hi.. I am started using cakewalk music creator 6 which is the latest version. The cost is also reasonable. Music Creator 6 turns your computer into your own personal recording studio and includes everything you need to create, edit, and mix professional recordings.Music Creator’s elegant design and drag and drop interface makes creating and sharing music fast, easy, and fun.

The link above does not take you to Cakewalk's Music Creator site.

You are correct. The above link appears to be just a REVIEW site, but even at that, I am not sure they are actually reviewing the Music Maker program.

Music Maker is a MAGIX software product. I have MAGIX Music Maker 15, but its latest incarnation is MAGIX Music Maker MX. It is a fully functional audio/MIDI DAW, but its primary function is as an audio snippet remix program very similar to Sony Acid Studio. I enjoy tinkering with it, but have never used it seriously, even though it is capable of some fairly sophisticated projects.

The Cakewalk product is Music Creator, and as stated above, is currently at Version 6. Music Creator is a standard audio/MIDI DAW. Its primary advantage is that it is just a scaled down version of Sonar at a very reasonable price. Music Creator and Sonar share many files, functions, and capabilities. I bounce back and forth between Music Creator and Power Tracks Pro, because each has some advantages that the other does not.

I offer this here strictly to straighten out the confusion from above, but will say no more. If I were Peter, I don't think I would appreciate seeing a discussion of competitors' products here. Sorry, Peter !

Regards,

Ted
