Hi Forum friends,
I haven’t checked in for a while but here is a new song from me called:
WANDERING.
The title relates to what I wish I was doing rather than what I have been doing.
It’s a cruisy little instrumental, featuring piano lead, guitar accompaniment, bass and drums
RealTracks featured are:
RT2959:Bass, Acoustic, SmoothPoppyNeil Ev16 090 (Neil Swainson)
RealDrums-NashBrushBalDbKE (Brian Fullen)
RT2200:Guitar, Nylon, Background CountryBrent Ev 085 (Brent Mason)
I wrote the piano arrangement, as well as the middle bass part from 2 min 14 sec until 2 min 36 sec.
I also programmed the accompanying guitar tracks using Native Instruments' “Session Guitarist Picked Acoustic”.
I hope you enjoy it. As always, your comments, criticism, praise and suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
Cheers,
Mike

That's a nice piece Mike.
It changes character when the rhythm section comes in but that's a good thing. That midi acoustic guitar works a treat.
Nicely done.

Cheers

Love it, Mike! way to take control of the band. The opening reminded me of Till There Was You, but after those 4 bars you took it on a brilliant path of enjoyment.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Very original creative tune. I really like the chord progression, so many exciting turns, like expressing the different scenes when wandering around the world. The band supports perfectly the exciting journey, the acoustic instruments really shine creating very positive feelings, the piano is especially nice. The arrangement is lovely, different type of sections are bound together very well, the break at 2:35 is the highlight. Thanks for this uplifting musical scenery.

Mike,

What a great intro! Immediately captures the listener’s attention. I know it’s an instrumental, but with that melody and lovely mix, it’s begging for some lyrics—just one guy’s opinion. Really nicely done!

Kindest regards,

Deej

Nice song, with some especially standout bits. Having a second listen right now.

Minor nits: The instruments sound like they're in different physical spaces, and the piano and guitar sound like they live in similar frequencies. The piano is bright and to my totally non-professional ears sounds a bit too bright and compressed. I'm guessing the fret buzz is from the NI guitar. Nice touch!

Again, these are only only really tiny nits.

Some cool changes, really like the break.

Actually, nice work on all the instruments - especially the piano and NI guitar.

OK, listening for a third time. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Excellent tune. Nice and clean. I'll be going back to listen closer but very enjoyable on the first go round.

It's absolutely amazing what those tracks are capable of these days.

Edit: Man... Wow! What an impressive ending. The slowdown, and the chords... Every thing about that ending.... Loved it.

Mike,

Your instrumentals are ALWAYS impressive. It is obvious that you put a lot of thought into them (and a lot of love).

The piano is beautiful.
Excellent use of the Picked Acoustic. (I almost bought it when it was on sale this past xmas when it was on sale. This - and a couple of things that Greg has shared with me is REALLY making me regret that I did not!!).

Your compositions have great pacing. Love the stop! And the slow down ending.
Excellent production, arrangement and mix.

A great listen!

Hi Mike,

There's plenty to like with this composition and its production.

I love the way you took me on a musical journey that was full of twists and turns, surprises and excitement. To accomplish this is very skillful. You work with MIDI and audio is very impressive.

I absolutely love the piano part that you wrote.

Regards,
Noel

I'm always impressed by the way you arrange these instrumentals you do! Very, very good indeed.

Man, that has to be the best ending I've ever heard here I think! Well done, enjoyed.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
