I'VE NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD

I have always enjoyed the work that Dave Bell and Marty Straub
present here in the forum and for this project they both graciously
lent their talents to help me get this song together.
Marty's bass playing is always so solid and Dave is one of the
finest blues players that I know of. I developed this song over
the last couple of weeks and really enjoyed putting it all together.
It's kind of a throw-back Rhythm and Blues/Rock number. Thanks
for giving it a listen and I hope you all enjoy it.

BIAB - Piano 2303 Country Rock John Ev 120
Marty Straub - Bass
Dave Bell - Lead Guitar (solo and fills)
Me -Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Piano, Organ & Synths
Drums - Drums On Demand

Stand back and watch
This magic carpet of love I will ride
Pardon my joy
But what I feel inside I can't hide
I've heard a bolt from the blue
Can change the plans of mice and men
Your bolt pierced my heart
I can't deny or try to pretend
That there's something out there
Better that's waiting for me
To think that way I'd be a fool
The truth is that I've long
Been waiting for this day
For someone like you

I could say how I feel
Describe the surreal
I would be misunderstood
A thousand years if I live
I'd find nothing like this
I've never had it so good

I'm just walking on air
With the sun shining down on me
I've come out of the dark
To where I've only been in my dreams
I've never been much for dancing
But you just make me want to move
And I've got a lot of emotion
Needing release in my shoes

I could say how I feel
Describe the surreal
I would be misunderstood
A thousand years if I live
I'd find nothing like this
I've never had it so good

Wow, this sounds like any number of 70's bands I loved: Little Feat, Orleans, Firefall, Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. Early Robert Palmer. Really great sound, like a Super Session of Showcase performers. Terrific work, guys!

Torrey Dave & Marty

That was superb!

Everything was great, your playing the melody and vocal, Dave's guitar and Marty's bass and the BIAB piano.

One of the best ones I've heard here in a long time.

It came together so well.

Loved it.

Torrey - a cracker of a song with an excellent melody & a seriously great vocal.
Dave - ace solo and fills that fit the bill.
Marty - in the pocket and on the money
BIAB piano is an excellent fit.

Torrey, which DOD set did you use? I like that one. Did the structure of the DOD track influence the structure of the song?

Cheers

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Torrey,

Cool song! Good write!

I hear a bit of Leon Russel (mixed with the ever-present Rundgren) plus any number of great influences!!
Beyond the influences - you are a true original.

The use of stops is excellent. Marty's gorgeous bass accentuates them nicely (I thought the bass could be a bit louder). Dave's guitar work is killer. (ALL of your parts are good!)

Excellent vocals and BGVs.

Awesome music. A great listen. Terrific collaboration!!

(this forum is SO cool!!)

Loved it.

very 70s. v nice thinking went into this.
it reminds me of a canadian band of the past...just cant put my finger on who.
superb lead vocs with oodles of character.
what i like also as well is the way the backing
supports the lead vocs sooo well.
this shows true professionalism.

superb effort.

Thanks TuneMonger! Yes as a child of the 60's and 70's it's hard to do any music without those groups influencing the sound! T

Such a wonderful song and so well-done, Torrey. Thanks so much for the invite, especially because you could have done the bass even better. Thanks to all who mentioned me in there, but to be clear, the creative part of the bass line was done by the master songwriter, Torrey Bliss. Love everything about this. No one has mentioned ELO. Torrey your songs remind me of all the things I like about that band without all the things I didn't. Brilliant.

Enjoy whatever happens!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
