You Don't Know MeStill working on a new song, but before that, here is a song I wrote last fall. It was inspired by a very small event, I saw someone who looked like someone I knew and I started to think about how it would feel if someone pretended not to recognize me anymore. For vocals, I tried to get out of Synthesizer V Kevin as much as possible. And I tried to make Synthesizer V Solaria to sound like a wicked lady. I don't know whether I was successful, but it was nice practice with the editor anyway. BIAB provided once again great instruments for this flamenco dance arrangement with some metal flavor. RealDrums: RetroPop^01-a:Bass, HiHat, b:Bass, Snare RumbaFlamencaPerc^2-Sstick,Ride Metal8thsDoubleTime Loop: House-Techno-Trance\House - crunchy_120_b drums ev16.wav RealTracks: 2578:Bass, Synth, RetroPop Ev16 085 671: Organ, B3, Background Southern Ev 120 1435:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm JazzFunkGroovinChords Ev16 110 2583:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Punk Ev 165 3240:Guitar, Nylon, Rhythm RumbaFlamencaFast16ths Ev16 120 3312:Guitar, Electric, Soloist Metal12-key Wild Ev 120 (WildCresc) Mixed in Cakewalk by BandLab with effects: VocalSynth 2, Neutron 4, Ozone 10, Neoverb, Melodyne for modifying the soloist Vocals: Synthesizer V Kevin (lead), Synthesizer V Solaria (backing) Lyrics: You don't know me you look away hello or hi you don't say. You don't know me you turn your head not to me to the crowd instead. I'm a stranger you want to ignore I'm not worth noting for. By the square where you stand maybe shaking the smoking hand. Beneath the hat eyes ashamed not prepared to take the blame. Maybe I should pass look into you to make you feel awkward say: goodbyes overdue? You don't know me you look away hello or hi you don't say. I don't know you I tell apart the look's the same but not the heart You're a stranger reminding me of someone who's still my love. Who are you thought we met we had good time without regret. Perhaps I'm wrong there just was a reaction but no cause. I'm so frustrated I need to shout at a likely outsider what I'm angry about. You don't know me you look away hello or hi you don't say. I don't know you I tell apart the look's the same but not the heart You're a stranger reminding me of someone who's still my love. Hope I'm mistaken no-one could be so unkind (I could be so unkind) or maybe you have (maybe I have) a bipolar mind. You don't know me you look away hello or hi you don't say. I don't know you I tell apart the look's the same but not the heart You're a stranger reminding me of someone who's still my love. ---------------------------- Janne

Janne,
Wow, that’s some BIAB style and you use it really well here. Great 80’s dance vibe to this . . . and you continue to do some wonderful things with the vocaloids. Although from a production standpoint I wonder if the lead vocal sits as well in the mix as it could (it’s maybe a tad too . . . metallic?) . . . just listening on the laptop this morning, so it could be that . . . see what others think. Wow, love those BGVs with Solaria . . . and that guitar solo is just brilliant. Really cool song . . . catchy, creative and magnetic.
My best to you,
Deej

First off a pretty wild bunch of RTs. Very interesting and cleverly conceived.
Nice programming of Synth V - Solaria sounds very good in this context.
Good innovative work all round.

Janne, this sounds great to these ears. You have mastered those vocal synths as they sound real. Super mix - I'll bet that took a good amount of time. Love that groove. You picked the perfect lead guitar RTs Excellent song.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Ok, well, I know OF you, Janne, and one thing I know is I'm gonna love every song you post. I really don't know what it takes to get the most out of the synth voices, but I'd say you were very successful in squeezing the most out of Kevin, and, yes, Solaria sounds like someone you wouldn't want to mess with.
Man, what a driving sound. Definitely something someone would notice, and cannot look away. Yeah, I wouldn't know you if I bumped into you on the street, but, man, I know you are good at this stuff. I'm envisioning this performed live. A terrific production, Janne. Way too much energy to ignore.

Surprisingly UP. The mix is solid and at a tangent from the narrative - then there's the solo which goes in another direction entirely - so stays interesting. I did note that the rhyme: "you want to ignore I'm not worth noting for." Works on a sonic level but "noting for" is odd. Nicely done synth Vs.

Janne, now the hard part of selling it to Ricky Martin starts.
Wild groove, cool subject. I am amazed how well you train your robo singers. Good, clear mix and listens well. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

My best to you,
Deej Thanks Deej for your very pleasant review I think I used quite much breath setting and maybe some distortion in the mix to get some aggressive tone to his voice, maybe I have added bit too much. I agree about that guitar solo, I wish people would use those metal guitars more often Janne

Nice rhythmic arrangement - and good job making Kevin sound less like Kevin. Fun listen!

Thanks Ray, I appreciate your kind comment Yep, I couldn't find a better way to rhyme with ignore and didn't see anything seriously wrong with "noting for". But I'll be more than happy if somebody knows how to fix that part to be linguistically correct Janne PS. Seems that Edge was updated and now its spell checker is broken, so I apologize any grammar errors...

A little too busy for my personal taste, but you did a great job of arranging all the percussion elements into a transparent soundscape. Great driving rhythm. I would prefer the solo guitar to be less lo-fi to fit better with the rest, but that's my only nit. Well done!

Janne, An irresitible drive to this- love the flamenco guitar and layered percussion. The lyric subject is more nuanced than the music and held my attention because of the contrast. Great production and your vocaloid skills are in evidence. Very cool music!

This is a fun upbeat song, very creative with Kevin and his girlfriend And the lyrics express the awkward situation that sometimes arise. An enjoyable listen, great job.
https://soundcloud.com/user-646279677BiaB 2024 Windows For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.
