Sadly, my Father-in-law passed away earlier this week. My mother-in-law asked me to organise the music for the funeral service, and one of his favourite songs was “Stranger On The Shore” by Acker Bilk. As I didn’t have a recording of this song I decided to do my own version. Please let me know what you think of it. http://www.kara-moon.com/index.php?play_song_id=4893
Cheers, Keith

Sorry for your loss. This redition should be well received.
However, a bit heavy on the Strings Synth for my ear. Simpler could be better. Horn may sound ever nicer with a "lighter" accompaniment.
Cheers

keith. so sorry to hear of your loss mate. seriously..condolences. its very well done mate. only thing i might suggest is mebe a bit more up tempo and mebe a bit jaunty ?? i had a similar problem when i lost my dad n cried buckets for ages. but as he was a huge comical bloke i knew he would want something that wasnt too serious. thus i did the song the whole of london town is crying on my mota site. its a very real problem what to do, cos our loved ones want us to continue being happy but at the same time remember them. i frankly still cant play the london song i wrote cos the tears start coming. so thats the reason i suggest mebe upping the tempo a tad ?? my hearfelt condolences mate. god bless n just remember all the happy times.
retired puter engr....powertracks on amd......NICE ! "what is the black art of audio engineering ?" my silly songs...motagator.com/bmanning see my tips in the tips section.

While the family may appreciate a version of your own effort: Stranger on the Shore This does seem to be available on the web, and is also beautiful version. Actually, pretty heavy on the Strings so I guess that may be the way the author wrote it. Also a little more uptempo.

Listening to it right now, sounds great. I think the fact that you did it will mean a lot to everyone concerned. In the end, nobody will remember whether the instruments were in balance or whatever. They'll just remember that you played it. Good job. Actually one of my favorite tunes.

Sorry for you loss.
Unfortunately I can not play the song. It says expired on the player and no sound is coming through. My system is ok, as your other songs play just fine. This is the only one that doesn’t play no matter what I do.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Thank you all for your condolences, and for your kind comments; they are very appreciated. I have one more song to complete - Bette Midler's "The Rose" which I hope to finish today. Don G: there's a copy on the way to you. Mario: I'm sorry, I can't understand why it won't work. I've just opened it & played it successfully. Did you try the direct link from my post, or from "My Music?"
Cheers, Keith

Keith, My condolences to you and your family. I will agree that the strings in the middle are a bit 'in your face', but they aren't that bad. I think the song is wonderful at this tempo.
I too am sure that people won't notice, and they will appreciate that you did it.

I seem to recall the original hit, the strings were also way out in front like that.

G'day Keith, my condolences also. We recently had a similar situation with my wife's mum so I have fresh memories of what you face. As a result I got to thinking about what I would like to happen at my own funeral - in a coupl'a hundred years or so - and realised that I would prefer people to celebrate my life than be miserable at my death, though I hope nobody actually cheers... To me, playing his favourite music is part of a celebrating his life - the fact that you prepared it yourself rather than simply grabbing a recording from somewhere gives it greater meaning. Go with it mate.

Hi Keith, Sorry to hear of your loss. This song struck me, and has stayed with me, the first time I heard it in the 60's. Your father-in-law had good musical taste. Your rendition is superb. He'll listen with joy...

Hi Keith, I enjoyed your rendition, and I'm in agreement with all the good things posted above. Go with it.

I'd be completely happy if I had just one more guitar.

Keith, I was able to hear this by going to the Kara-Moon Artist Page. I still don’t know why I can’t here if from your initial message.
Anyway, this is one fantastic version. Straight to my keeper folder.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
