Hello, taking Peter Ganon word I am reposting this song from my original thread in the main BiaB forum. User Showcase is a logical evolution into any music related forum. I was thinking about a devoted space for our songs long time ago, thanks Peter and team, you all always doing the best!

Carlos

Latin Cowboy

Hi all,

This is a song I did as demo of a latin rock style for BIAB I built after read Clive post 'Latin Rock style like Carlos Santana' . It is a 6 instruments style and use RealTracks, RealDrums and one MIDI instruments .
Lot of fun on making this, Latin Cowboy is a latin rock song in the mood of Oye Como Va "Santana' cover. Aside of guitar and sax, there is a fiddle soloing from RealTracks too, bluegrass meet latin... yeeha mamacita!! . Again the possibilities and versatility of Band in a Box with RT/RD/RB are demonstrated.
I think this latin rock BIAB style also can work with likes of Santana's Black Magic Woman, Flor de Luna, etc, with moderate/fast tempos between 120-140 bpm but not for more slower songs like Samba Pa Ti.

I use L_MAMBO6.STY (Latin-Mambo 6 ala Perez) MIDI style disk #25 as starpoint ( I use only the MIDI Brass section for style) then add the following RT:

Bass, Acoustic, Rumba Ev 110 - #916
Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm ChaCha Ev 110 - #918
Organ, B3, Background Blues Roadhouse Ev 120 - #674
Guitar (optional), Electric, Rhythm NashvillePopClean Ev 120 (A: held) #851
Drums RD: Salsa Cha Cha Latin Jazz - #13
Additional drums: Nashville even 8 #06 (not included in the style) : I added and test it in RealBand, then DROP to Cubase, since original Santana band included percussion and drums, a must for that solid and modern latin rock character. This is a perfect item for my BIAB wish list: an additional Drum instrument slot, ideal for drum and percussion combinations!
Brass (MIDI): L_MAMBO6.STY (Latin-Mambo 6 ala Perez) MIDI style disk #25

Solos:
Sax, Tenor, Motown Rock Ev 120 #403 (not included in the style)
Fiddle, Soloist Bluegrass Ev 130 #434 (not included in the style) --- Note: All fiddle parts/soloing in the song is from RT, except 1:50 to 2:23 which is a VSTi violin played by me with MIDI guitar.
Guitar: myself ( not included in the style....just in my soul) (guitar is a Godin xtSA)

Composed and arranged with Band-in-a-Box 2010, Real Band, RealTracks - RealDrums
mixing, guitar recording and additional edition: Steinberg Cubase.

if someone is interested in the style or song (BIAB) files from this song please drop a note here in this topic and send a PM with email address.

BEWARE:
I got a very prominent virus warning from my NOD32 AntiVirus software when I clicked on the first 'Latin Cowboy' link in the first post of this thread. The item was quantined as being a Trojan Downloader. Very, very dangerous. If your antivirus software didn't pick it up then I suggest you take some appropriate steps to check if it has been successful in infecting your PC.

"FraudLoad trojan is classified as downloader trojan. Once FraudLoad (a.k.a. Trojan.FraudLoad) gets on a computer, it connects to the internet and secretly downloads malwares. It is also capable of installing new computer parasites without user’s permission. Trojan.FraudLoad usually downloads rogue security programs or other trojans. This infection should be removed as soon as possible because it jeopardizes computer security and user’s privacy.

Trojan.FraudLoad is also capable of another “feature”. It may leave a computer open for a remote connection. This allows remote attacker to spy on victim and install even more malwares."

Hi John,

Thanks for the trojan warning, I am sorry you got it as glad you anti-virus stopped it. I am right now in conversation with my website webmaster, please we wanted to know how you did get the virus warning: by cliking in the song link to the song in my page or when you did browse to the forum thread?
Some months ago I found an forum user who was spreading unauthorized posts with spam urls, it was detected by my anti-virus as trojan. I deleted the msgs. and banned the fake user.

My site www.carlosarellano.com was treated and cleaned with exhaustive anti virus procedure 15 days ago in every area of the server after we updated it to an safe Cloud server I hired in Chicago area. However, I would be grateful on advise me in the case some another issue appear.

Sorry by inconveniences.

Carlos.

It's about 20F today with 4 - 6 inches of snow remaining on the ground from storm a couple days ago. But otherwise, Chicago is a nice part of the world if you don't like mountains, coast line, or tropical weather. If you do get the opportunity to visit and you need a host be sure to let me know and I would be glad to help out.

Wow wow wow wow...

That completely rocks, and the fiddle is great.

The guitarist isn't too shabby, either.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Super outstanding guitar playing backed by the perfect backing tracks very nicely mixed.

Two thumbs up.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
