When I use any Windows Office products and I have any file open, choosing File, Save As... will show the current location of the file that is open as the default save location.

But with PowerTracks I can open a file, then open the Mixer and load a group of plugins/settings, the current directory becomes Program Files\PT\DX settings and File, Save As DOES not show the current location of the file that is open. WHY?

So my wishlist item is File, Save As behaving like other Windows programs - showing the file's actual location.

Double check what you are writing here. I don't sem to have that problem and I think that others are finding the same as myself, I may be wrong.

However, if what you state is true, then you get a +1 from me. Then you would be advised to state this in the 'wishlist' area

Unfortunately, I double check this every Sunday. I begin a new file and name it before I start recording. I'm in the file and if I then go to the mixer and add any plugin (compresser/expander for instance), the current directory becomes the plugin directory.

But a correctly behaving Windows program would revert to the directory of the file (.seq file) when File, Save as is used. PowerTracks does not. Behaving like any Windows Office application is what I consider as behaving correctly.

So I've created the new file, loaded a plugin and then recorded and finished. I've saved the original and now I want save a copy with "edit" added to the name. File Save As should get me to where the file is and my new file name should be as easy as adding "edit" to the end of the file name in the File Save As dialog.

This is the wish list area, right?
I can see how one could get confused, most of the recent posts here have not been wishlist items.

I see what I've left out. I load the PG dynamics and the PG Ten Band EQ by loading a Group of plugins. That's what changes the directory to be the plugin directory. Since the recording is always basically the same, I use the group feature (transgroup setting).

If you are always loading the same plugins into the same slots, you could create a template for yourself that loads up with these plugins already inserted. That would save you time and would also mean you will not would not encounter the file path changes you are experiencing

Give it a try - you have nothing to lose and may gain some time advantage

I do not have this problem. Suggest that you go to Options > File Section and check the last three radials above the Back Up Sections and see if this helps.

Sam's suggestion is working well. LynB's I think will help also.
Thanks all.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
