Hi. Yes, it is good practice to match the tempo before importing the tracks and something I would do if I wanted to change any pitch or timing or add a time based plugin such as jamstix etc.

If you load wav / mp3 tracks into FL studio, it doesn't, attempt to adjust the tracks tempo to its default tempo setting. Any subsequent tempo change in FL would readjust the track tempo though, so, another good reason for matching them at the outset.

I really should get into the habit of doing that, to avoid any unintended consequences at later stages.

In this case, as the drum beat was imported as one of the tracks, I did not need the metronome to play the lead guitar against and this would have been the only thing that was tempo related.
