The New Age Pianist

This music in this collection represents the collaborative of Vancouver producer/composer Oliver Gannon and Miles Black, the pianist who performed and wrote most of the compositions. The collection is intended to fulfill a dual purpose. The first is simply to please you, the listener.

The second goal of this program is to serve as a technical guide to the methods of New Age piano music. In creating the individual pieces in this collection, the authors of "The New Age Pianist" have consciously made use of musical techniques which the listener will recognize as belonging to such seminal New Age artists as George Winston, Vangelis, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, and others. There can be no artistry without a strong basis in craftsmanship, and the songs in this album are wonderful illustrations of how methods of the craft are applied in order to create art. The computer serves as an ideal medium to present the music in such a way that it can be studied and analyzed. We encourage the listener to use the tools of the program to learn about the music while enjoying it at the same time.
